Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (Women’s Residential)

Location: Flowery Branch, GA

Organization: Lightway Addiction Recovery Wellness Center for Women

About Lightway Recovery

Lightway is a nonprofit, Christ-centered residential recovery environment where women are treated with dignity and respect. We focus on healing the body, mind, and spirit, providing women with the tools to build a foundation for lifelong recovery.

Role Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and professionally-minded individual to join our team as a Recovery Coach. In this role, you will use your lived experience to mentor women in early recovery. You will serve as a one on one support to residents, modeling what long-term, stable recovery looks like in daily life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentorship: Provide one-on-one peer support and group facilitation for women in various phases of residential care.
  • Goal Setting: Assist residents in creating and implementing individualized Recovery plans.
  • Advocacy: Act as a peer advocate within the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the resident’s voice is heard.
  • Resource Connection: Help residents navigate community resources, housing, and employment opportunities.
  • Modeling: Demonstrate healthy coping skills, boundaries, and a "wellness-first" lifestyle.
  • Assist with teaching, life skills training and other operational duties as required.

Qualifications (The "Must-Haves")

  • Lived Experience: Must be a person in stable, sustained recovery from a substance use disorder.
  • Desire to grow professionally and personally and impact individuals, families and communities.
  • Embrace the understanding that addiction and recovery impact body, mind and spirit and that life-long recovery is possible.
  • The 2-Year Standard: Per our center’s safety and mentorship standards, candidates must have at least 2 years of continuous, documented recovery/sobriety.
  • Certification: Must hold a Georgia CARES (Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist) or a comparable CPS (Certified Peer Specialist) certification (or be eligible to obtain it within 6 months).
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Character: Ability to align with and represent the Christ-centered mission and values of Lightway Recovery and embody the core values of Navigate Recovery.
