Salary Range: $110,000-$130,000
Laukoa is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead field operations on federal construction projects throughout Hawaii. The Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day management of construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with contract requirements, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and quality standards.
The ideal candidate is a proven field leader with extensive federal construction experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders while maintaining exceptional relationships with government clients, subcontractors, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Direct all on-site construction activities from mobilization through project closeout.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, including short-term look-ahead plans and daily work activities.
  • Ensure all work complies with contract documents, project specifications, UFC requirements, EM 385-1-1, and applicable codes and regulations.
  • Lead project safety efforts and promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Conduct daily coordination meetings, safety briefings, and subcontractor planning sessions.
  • Identify and resolve field conflicts, design issues, and schedule impacts while minimizing project risk.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning activities, and final turnover requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, manpower logs, production tracking, and schedule updates.
  • Work collaboratively with the Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, SSHO, designers, subcontractors, and Government representatives.
  • Support project planning, change management, schedule recovery efforts, and successful project execution.
  • Maintain a professional, organized, and client-focused jobsite.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of construction superintendent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years managing federal construction projects, including experience with agencies such as USACE, NAVFAC, GSA, or other federal clients.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects valued between $5 million and $50 million.
  • Thorough understanding of federal construction contracts, construction sequencing, scheduling, and quality management.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain installation access.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification
  • EM 385-1-1 40-Hour Certification
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Experience delivering Design-Build projects.
  • Experience with commissioning, secure facilities, healthcare, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Current or previous experience on USACE or NAVFAC projects.
