Job description

Our Company
CarbonBetter is an energy logistics and trading company headquartered in Austin, Texas. We help residential, industrial, and commercial customers manage their energy supply, transportation, and environmental goals through physical natural gas marketing, logistics, renewable energy, and carbon solutions. Our entrepreneurial culture empowers employees to build businesses, create long-term value, and solve complex challenges in evolving energy markets.
Overview of Role:
We're looking for an entrepreneurial senior scheduler or trader who wants to build and scale a physical natural gas business with the backing of an established company. You'll have the autonomy to develop your market strategy, build customer relationships, create new commercial opportunities, and grow your own team as the business expands.
If you've always wanted to build your own trading business, but without having to raise capital, build operations, or create back-office infrastructure, this is that opportunity.
Reporting directly to the Head of Trading, you'll be responsible for creating long-term value while helping shape the future of CarbonBetter's physical natural gas platform.
The role may be based in Austin, TX, or within your primary market.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Build and grow a profitable physical natural gas trading book
  • Develop new customer, supplier, and counterparty relationships
  • Identify and capitalize on evolving market opportunities
  • Execute physical transactions while actively managing market and operational risk
  • Work closely with the middle office, and accounting to ensure flawless execution
  • Mentor and build a team, including schedulers, as your business grows

Qualifications
The ideal candidate has demonstrated the ability to create profitable businesses through commercial initiative, relationship development, and disciplined execution-not simply optimize an existing portfolio of company-owned assets.
  • 5+ years of experience in U.S. physical natural gas markets
  • Demonstrated success originating and growing profitable physical natural gas business.
  • Proven ability to develop new customer relationships and create sustainable sources of P&L.
  • Deep understanding of Gulf Coast pipeline systems, transportation, basis markets, and physical logistics.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to build and scale a business over the long term.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to build high-performing teams.

Compensation
Our compensation philosophy is designed to reward business builders.
Compensation is highly performance-based, with significant upside tied directly to the profitability and long-term growth of the business you create. We offer the autonomy, resources, and operational support to help exceptional traders build lasting value.
