Our organisation
Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFCBS) provides a Joint headquarters to plan, prepare and conduct operations to support NATO's core tasks, at the Joint Operational level, as directed by Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR).
The Operations Directorate is responsible for directing, monitoring, coordinating and assessing operational functions and advising the Chief of Staff (COS) regarding all regionally focused operational activities.
The J2 Division provides Intelligence in support of the planning, preparation, conduct and assessment of NATO assigned operations.
The Intelligence Assessments Branch delivers timely, comprehensive threat assessments, Political, Military, Economic, Social Infrastructure and Information (PMESII) domains analysis, Warfighting capabilities and functions analysis, Domain centric analysis, single joint operational topic reporting, and the Current Intelligence Picture (CIP).Â
The Whole of State Intelligence Assessment Section maintains, at the operational level, awareness and understanding of adversaries' use of instruments of power across P_ESII domains (including asymmetric, hybrid and transnational elements) and their impact on military functions and capabilities.
The incumbent analyses and assesses data, information and intelligence pertaining to adversaries' political and civilian command and control aspects in order to contribute to the development of a comprehensive picture of the engagement space in support of operational planning and JFCBS decision-making processes.
The main duties of Staff Officer (Political and Civilian C2 Analyst) are to:
        Analyse and assess data, information and intelligence pertaining to adversaries' political and civilian C2 aspects in order to contribute to the development of a comprehensive picture of the engagement space, and in support of threat assessments, operational planning, targeting and JFCBS decision-making processes.
        Conducts all-source and System of Systems Analysis (SOSA) in order to develop actionable intelligence.
        Provide subject matter expertise related to adversaries' political and civilian C2 aspects
        Provide intelligence products, briefings, and inputs to overall threat assessments, covering the political domain and civilian C2 aspects of adversaries that can pose a threat to JFCBS Area of Responsibility (AOR).
        Contribute to Indications and Waring (I&W) reporting and analysis.
        Identify factors, organisations, relationships, dependencies, and interactions within the political and Civilian C2 system in coordination with the other Whole-of-State/PMESII domains analysts and in support of other JFCBS J2 branches.
        Conduct horizon scanning and maintains situational awareness on adversaries' political and civilian C2 issues in support of JFCBS ongoing activities, including exercises.
        Provide analytical support to Target System Analysis/High Value Individual Assessment process in the HQ.
        Maintain and updates encyclopaedic intelligence data on political and civilian C2 issues for areas of intelligence responsibility and interest for JFCBS in accordance with Allied Command Operations (ACO) Directives.
        Conduct day-to-day cooperation, deconfliction and information exchange with relevant JFCBS Directorates in order to maintain awareness of current activities and developments across the full spectrum of HQs roles, mission and staff areas to identify possible needs for functional area support.
        Coordinate and exchanges information, on a regular basis, with counterparts across NATO HQs and NATO entities.
        Share their knowledge on intelligence tradecraft, methodology and procedures with other intelligence personnel and briefs staff on the intelligence picture.
        Maintain leading-edge professional knowledge in the political domain, and in particular its application to military operations, and represents JFCBS J2 at seminars, workshops and conferences within NATO. Engages with external stakeholders and organizations to increase own subject matter expertise and network.
The incumbent may be required to undertake deployments in support of military operations and exercises, and/or TDY assignments, both within and without NATO boundaries. Such operational deployment may exceed 30 days duration up to 183 days in any period of 547 days, and may be on short notice. For NATO International Civilian Staff, acceptance of an employment contract linked to this post constitutes agreement to deploy in excess of 30 days if required.
Required Qualifications are:
 English - good - NATO Standard Language Proficiency 3333
(Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) in accordance with NATO standard agreement (STANAG) 6001.
NOTE: The work both oral and written in this post and in this Headquarters as a whole is conducted mainly in English.
 University Degree or equivalent in relevant field / discipline.
 Minimum 3 years professional experience in research and analysis related to political and civilian command and control aspects of adversaries that can pose a threat to NATO.
 Minimum 3 years professional experience in intelligence analysis in a national, multinational function or the private sector.
 Practical experience in collecting, analyzing and exploiting information intelligence in order to produce and disseminate intelligence products.
 Practical experience in processing intelligence from all available sources and using it into multi-source, actionable intelligence.
Desirable Qualifications are:
 Knowledge of System of System Analysis.
 Familiarity with the Comprehensive Operations Planning Directive or operational planning equivalent.
 Experience with intelligence and data handling systems.
 Experience providing briefs to senior leadership.
 Experience gained from an international environment, in a civilian or military capacity.
 Completion of for this position relevant courses/ training.

The successful selected candidate needs to have a NATO security clearance and is required to pass a medical examination before an employment contract offer will be released.
