Job description

Job Brief.
Our team is looking for an experienced Superintendent - Aviation Fuel Systems to oversee the day-to-day onsite construction supervision, coordination, and management of all field activities from initial project mobilization to final project completion and acceptance. This role requires excellent communication skills, as you'll collaborate with various project stakeholders, including Federal Employees, Owners, Subcontractors, fellow Project Superintendents, Safety/QA Professionals, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Foreman, and Field Personnel. To succeed, you must ensure MEB's core values are being lived on the project every day and that quality, health, and safety standards onsite are your top priority. This position requires the ability to relocate to construction projects throughout the continental US.
If you possess a strong working knowledge of fuels system construction, understand processes and procedures used in construction contracts for NAVFAC and the USACE and work well under pressure, we'd like to meet you!
Core Areas of Responsibility.
  • Professionally and effectively interact and communicate with project owners, design engineers, construction managers, subcontractors, and field employees at all levels.
  • Understand, follow, and execute contract construction plans and specifications.
  • Assist in the development of and can interpret and follow a CPM construction schedule. Develop short range schedules (3 week look-aheads, etc.) for effective work planning throughout construction. Experience with Primavera P6 scheduling software preferred, but not required.
  • Effectively lead and manage all onsite MEB field personnel and subcontractors. Coordinate and execute all self-performed and subcontracted work activities to meet the established safety, production and quality goals.
  • Utilize previous experience and knowledge of construction methods to analyze and deliver the safest, most efficient approach to completing the project. Must have the foresight to anticipate and solve problems and overcome roadblocks before they develop.
  • Enforce and manage jobsite construction safety. Must possess competent person status in four focused areas of safety.
  • Assist in the identification, documentation, preparation and submission of change order proposals.
  • Track and report construction progress and production goals about project budget.
  • Hire and dismiss field employees.
  • Prepare construction daily reports.
  • Coordinate and schedule all project inspections and quality control testing and documentation.
  • Issue and track field purchase orders for materials and supplies as necessary. Monitor material inventories to keep crews working efficiently.
  • Review and approve supplier and subcontractor invoices for accuracy and payment.
  • Manage onsite owned and rented construction equipment and tools.
  • Review work completion percentages with the Owners representative for purposes of developing the monthly pay application.

Skills You Possess.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience as a Superintendent on construction projects for the US Federal Government.
  • Understanding of the processes and procedures used in construction contracts for NAVFAC and the USACE.
  • In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes with a focus on constructing fueling systems and components including hydrant systems, offload facilities, truck loading positions, airfield paving, tank erection and coating systems.
  • Strong experience with welded piping systems, field erected storage tanks, concrete, foundation piles and earthwork preferred but not required.
  • Must possess competent person status in four focused areas of safety to include: Confined space, fall protection, excavation, and scaffolding. STS safety certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals is required (or the ability to obtain this certification within 6 months of hire)
  • Ability to pass Government background checks and obtain access to construction projects on US military installations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Organization and time-management skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire.
