The Global & NationalSecurity Policy Institute (GNSPI) brings together global and nationalsecurity-related courses, research, and programs at the University of NewMexico in a coherent whole under one umbrella to serve the entireinstitution-students and faculty-across its several campuses. The GNSPImission is to develop future policy leaders skilled in understanding theinterdependency of technology and business in establishing and implementingeffective national security policy. Our partnerships with NewMexico's premier national laboratories provide the intellectual basis forunderstanding the threats to national security, particularly in technology andglobal "commons" (e.g., space, climate, food & water, and energy resources),and their role in international relations. Our graduates are educated in theconsequences of the global diffusion of technology and communications. Ourobjective is to improve the nation's capacity to make ethical policy judgementsabout what should be done, and about what should not be done
