Description

Outside Sales Representative - Portland, OR
$65,000 Base + Uncapped Commission - Most Reps Earn $125,000+ | Full-Time

The Part Works is a regional plumbing parts distributor investing heavily in growing our Portland office. We're hiring an Outside Sales Representative to build and own a Portland-area territory, working directly with facilities and maintenance buyers at some of the largest hospitals and universities in the region. You'll report to our Sales Manager, get hands-on product training from day one, a $65,000 base salary plus uncapped commission - almost all of our reps earn $125,000+ a year - and a real say in how we expand across Oregon. We're willing to train the right person - sales experience helps, but the traits below matter more than a perfect resume.

About Us

The Part Works is a woman-owned, multi-generational family business and a leading plumbing parts distributor in the Pacific Northwest. We identify plumbing problems and source the solutions our customers need - and we've built our reputation on three things: deep product knowledge, close relationships with key buyers, and fast, reliable fulfillment. That reputation is why we now service some of the largest universities and hospitals in our territories.

Headquartered in Seattle, our biggest growth priority right now is our Portland office - which is exactly why this role exists.

What You'll DoReports to: Sales Manager
  • Prospect, develop, and grow a dedicated Portland-area territory, with a focus on new B2B accounts
  • Build direct relationships with facilities, maintenance, and procurement buyers at institutions like universities and hospitals
  • Learn the plumbing parts business hands-on - from experienced teammates, vendor partners, and on-the-job training
  • Manage your pipeline and account activity in our CRM, and keep customers informed and supported through the full order cycle
  • Partner with the Portland and National teams on strategy as we expand across Oregon
What We're Looking For
  • Relational - you enjoy connecting with people and building real trust
  • Curious - you ask thoughtful questions and dig in to understand a customer's problem
  • Organized - you manage a territory, pipeline, and follow-through with care
  • Communicative - you're clear and proactive, with customers and teammates alike
  • Growth-minded - you're eager to learn the industry now, and grow with us as we expand into new marketsΒ
Preferred Qualifications

We're open to training the right candidate - if you're strong on the traits above but light on sales experience, apply anyway.

  • 3+ years of outside B2B sales experience
  • A track record of prospecting, developing, and growing new customer accounts
  • Experience managing an assigned sales territory and consistently hitting or exceeding sales goals
  • Strong mechanical aptitude - comfortable learning technical products and explaining their value to customers
  • Experience with CRM software to manage pipeline and customer relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience as a plumber or in facilities maintenance is a plus, but not required
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: $65,000/year
  • Commission: Uncapped, paid on top of base - almost all of our reps earn $125,000+ per year in total compensation
  • Mileage reimbursed monthly
  • 401(k) with company match up to 4%
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) / Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • Paid vacation, sick time, and 9 paid holidays
  • Employee discount
Schedule & Logistics
  • Monday-Friday, day shift (8-hour shifts)
  • Location: Portland, OR - must reliably commute or be planning to relocate before starting
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Field-based role: you'll be out in the Portland territory meeting customers, with follow-up, quoting, and admin work done from your home office
