Job Summary:

HCA Florida North Florida Hospital, in collaboration with UCF College of Medicine (UCF COM) and a respected private practice, is excited to announce the launch of a new ACGME-accredited Cardiovascular Disease fellowship program. We are seeking an an experienced cardiologist to join our growing cardiology initiative and provide visionary leadership, mentorship and oversight to our new Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program as Program Director.
Clinical Duties:
Ideal candidates will bring a passion for teaching, leadership, and clinical excellence as they:
 

  • Provide general cardiology in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary heart failure, and cardiogenic shock programs.
  • Interpret echocardiograms and perform other cardiac procedures as appropriate to subspecialty training.
  • Share in attending responsibilities for general cardiology inpatient services.
  • Participate in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives.

Educational Leadership:
 
  • Serve as Program Director for the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program, in accordance with ACGME requirements.
  • Oversee curriculum development, trainee recruitment, evaluation, and progression.
  • Mentor fellows and residents in clinical and scholarly activities.
  • Foster a culture of academic excellence, professionalism, and innovation in cardiovascular education.
  • Collaborate with institutional UCF COM Graduate Medical Education leadership to ensure program compliance and continuous improvement.

Research and Academic Activities:
 
  • Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national meetings.
  • Support grant development and scholarly collaboration within the Division and Department.

Candidate Qualifications:
 
  • MD or DO degree.
  • Board certification in Cardiovascular Disease.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Florida.
  • Must have at least three (3) years of documented educational and / or administrative experience in an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency OR cardiovascular disease fellowship.
  • Proven ability to balance administrative leadership with hands-on teaching and clinical care.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Demonstrated scholarly activity (e.g., peer-reviewed research, publications, national presentations, committee involvement) is highly encouraged.
  • Academic rank and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

  • The main campus location is in Gainesville with a satellite location in Lake City for patient convenience.
