Job description

Position Summary

The Director of Program and Club Operations will lead the strategic design, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive, club-wide youth development programs. Areas of oversight include Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, Physical Education, along with College & Career Readiness. This position ensures alignment with the mission and goals of the Boys & Girls Club Movement and supervises program staff across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Program Oversight

  • Design and manage high-quality programs that align with the Boys & Girls Clubs’ Youth Development Strategy.
  • Develop and implement clear objectives in alignment with the Strategic Growth Plan.
  • Oversee daily implementation of programming to ensure member engagement, skill development, and positive outcomes.
  • Provide leadership in guiding staff and members, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environment.
  • Facilitate services to meet members’ educational, social, emotional, physical, and vocational needs.

Health, Safety & Facility Standards

  • Establish and maintain high standards of health and safety across all program areas.
  • Ensure site staff are trained to enforce safety protocols and maintain clean, well-organized and well-equipped spaces.
  • Adherence to all Safety Policies and Procedures, including emergency response plans.

Strategic Planning & Evaluation

  • Regularly evaluate all club programs for effectiveness, execution and impact.
  • Use data and member feedback to adjust and improve program offerings.
  • Execute all grant requirements and reporting aligned to desired outcomes.

Resource & Staff Management

  • Assist in developing and managing the annual program budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff and volunteers.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth through coaching and development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on program participation, outcomes, and incidents.

Marketing & Community Engagement

  • Increase program visibility through promotion of activities via daily schedules, internal communications, and community outreach.
  • Develop and distribute promotional materials, including flyers and announcements for upcoming programs and events.

Additional Responsibilities

  • May lead or participate in special programs and events (e.g., Keystone, Youth of the Year, Awards Programs).
  • May operate Club vehicles for member transportation as needed.
  • May travel with youth or attend weekend events on a limited basis.
  • May serve as liaison with parents/guardians to address member concerns.

Relationships

Internal

  • Maintain regular, collaborative communication with Club staff, volunteers, and members to facilitate programming and address operational needs.

External

  • Cultivate relationships with schools, parents, and community partners to support program delivery and resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in youth program management, preferably within the Boys & Girls Club network or a similar youth-serving organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability in staff supervision, project management, and group facilitation.
  • Knowledge of youth development principles and cultural competency.
  • Advanced computer proficiency with experience in data management, spreadsheets, and digital collaboration tools
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

The role may require periods of standing, walking, and light physical activity. Must be able to participate in active programs and operate in a youth-focused environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
