Requisition 202500100ST Title Student Employee-ORSP-Administrative Student Worker Employee Class Student Employee College Work Study Position No Department Office of Research & Sponsored Programs (ORSP) Division Division of Academic Affairs Hours per week 20-28 Hiring Rate
$12.00 per hour
Preferred Student Classification Nature & Purpose of Position
The student will provide administrative support to the department administrator for the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs & Polytechnic College. Some but not all duties will include:

  • General clerical work such as data entry, copying, filing, supply management, receives and distributes mail, assisting with special projects and events as needed, answering telephones, assisting with proposal entry in the platform Cayuse, and other duties needed in the daily operations of the office.
  • The ability to use office machines: computer, copier, scanner, and fax will be required.
  • Student must possess ability to use Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and use the Outlook Calendar.
  • This position requires customer service and reception area management.
Other Requirements for the Position
  • Student must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
  • Must be available to work during semester breaks, especially summer.
  • Keep an organized and professional work environment.
  • Student should be a self-starter, able to follow instructions, takes pride in their work, responsible, reliable, punctual, and able to maintain work place confidentiality.
  • Ability to alphabetize and maintain electronic databases and physical files.
  • Must be a team player and build good working relationships with staff, faculty, coworkers, and superiors, along with guests/students in the office.
  • Student will provide quality customer service on a daily basis to the department administrator for the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs & Polytechnic College, Faculty, and end users whether it is written, verbal, or in person.
  • Be willing to learn and adapt to a fast paced working environment.

The ideal candidate has a good working knowledge of the University, is professional, responsible, mature, and a great communicator. Candidate is a self-starter, pays attention to detail, can work well with little supervision, accomplishes tasks in a timely and accurate manner, and follows up appropriately. The candidate must take initiative and the ability to identify potential problems and be proactive with solutions.
