DEVELOPMENT TRAINEE - MACHINIST
Full-time, entry-level position. This position will rotate through three machining departments as well as a classroom setting to learn the operation and set-up of various machining tools on CNC and manual machines to produce precision parts efficiently and effectively. Master necessary skills and knowledge including:
- Machine parts to specifications following instructions, drawings, blueprints and specifications
- Perform set-ups and machining operations on machines capable of milling, grinding, turning and boring or similar equipment
- Provide quality assurances of meeting company specifications
- Grow in machining knowledge and skills in preparation for a Machinist position.
- Successfully complete each assessment and/ or test in each training block.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to read and understand written instructions.
- Good mechanical and mathematical skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Must be detail oriented and able to actively participate and work in a team environment.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Vocational/technical education preferred.
- Any Familiarity with computers.
- Ability to use and understand metric and standard measurements.
- Basic understanding of machining concepts (turning, milling, drilling, grinding)
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and technical drawings
- Familiarity with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Fundamental math skills, including fractions, decimals, and basic geometry
- Awareness of shop safety practices and proper use of PPE
- Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Shop environment.
- Office environment.
- Safety-toed safety shoes and safety glasses required.
- Must be able to regularly lift loads of up to 50 pounds.
- Work can be strenuous, and includes walking, climbing, kneeling, crawling, squatting, and pulling (such as on torque wrenches) as well as standing for long periods of time.
