DEVELOPMENT TRAINEE - MACHINIST
Full-time, entry-level position. This position will rotate through three machining departments as well as a classroom setting to learn the operation and set-up of various machining tools on CNC and manual machines to produce precision parts efficiently and effectively. Master necessary skills and knowledge including:
  • Machine parts to specifications following instructions, drawings, blueprints and specifications
  • Perform set-ups and machining operations on machines capable of milling, grinding, turning and boring or similar equipment
  • Provide quality assurances of meeting company specifications
  • Grow in machining knowledge and skills in preparation for a Machinist position.
  • Successfully complete each assessment and/ or test in each training block.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions.
  • Good mechanical and mathematical skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to actively participate and work in a team environment.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Vocational/technical education preferred.
  • Any Familiarity with computers.
  • Ability to use and understand metric and standard measurements.
  • Basic understanding of machining concepts (turning, milling, drilling, grinding)
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and technical drawings
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Fundamental math skills, including fractions, decimals, and basic geometry
  • Awareness of shop safety practices and proper use of PPE
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Shop environment.
  • Office environment.
  • Safety-toed safety shoes and safety glasses required.
  • Must be able to regularly lift loads of up to 50 pounds.
  • Work can be strenuous, and includes walking, climbing, kneeling, crawling, squatting, and pulling (such as on torque wrenches) as well as standing for long periods of time.
