Job Overview:
The Machinist III plays a crucial role in supporting production by operating machinery to fabricate various
one-off parts and tooling requirements. They ensure adherence to safety protocols while assisting the
Aftermarket team in their operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
โ€ข Machine parts to specifications using manual machine tools like drills, lathes, and milling
machines.
โ€ข Perform repair and restoration of parts to support the turbocharger service business.
โ€ข Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of
finished work.
โ€ข Conduct dimensional layout on all machined parts to ensure conformity to prints and routing
instructions, completing applicable documentation.
โ€ข Identify and execute multiple surface finishes as required.
โ€ข Deburr and stamp parts according to specifications.
โ€ข Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, jaw attachments, accessories, and materials onto
machines.
โ€ข Monitor machine feed and speed during the machining process, ensuring proper operation.
โ€ข Maintain a clean work area by emptying waste containers, disposing of used oil, sweeping chips,
and replacing broken pallets.
โ€ข Read job cards to determine product details, instructions, specifications, machining time, and
quantities.
โ€ข Adjust machine offsets such as wear, geometry, and cutter compensation.
โ€ข Observe all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety rules, including machining guards,
lifting techniques, and slips and falls prevention.
โ€ข Independently operate assigned machines like lathes and mills, including setup procedures.
โ€ข Handle multiple types of machines efficiently as required.
โ€ข Operate all machine tools necessary for the job.
โ€ข Utilize advanced trade mathematics along with complicated drawings and specifications.
Required Qualifications:
โ€ข High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution required.
โ€ข Minimum 5-8 years of experience in manual machining, preferably in oil & gas, power, heavy
equipment, or automation & controls.
โ€ข Advanced knowledge of precision measuring tools such as dial and Vernier calipers, ID MICS,
depth mics, ball mics, etc.
โ€ข Ability to lift at least 40 pounds and perform physical labor involving standing, bending, or
kneeling.
โ€ข Adaptability to evolving work requirements in a team environment.
โ€ข Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
โ€ข Certification to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and crane.
โ€ข Vo Tech Certificate.
โ€ข Knowledge of oilfield assemblies and parts.
โ€ข Ability to read and understand instructions, perform quality control, and adhere to safety
guidelines.
โ€ข Effective verbal and written communication skills.
โ€ข Basic math and computer skills.
โ€ข Capability to read, evaluate, and respond to product specifications and drawings.
โ€ข Comfortable with various types of metal cutting machinery, demonstrating mechanical aptitude.
