What is the National Health Service Corps?

The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) is a federal program in the United States that offers scholarships and loan repayment assistance to health professionals who agree to work in underserved communities. Its goal is to improve access to primary care, dental, and mental health services in areas with limited healthcare resources. NHSC clinicians serve in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs), providing vital care to populations in need while receiving financial support for their education. Participation in the NHSC helps reduce healthcare disparities and strengthens the nation's health workforce.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a National Health Service Corps clinician?

To thrive as a National Health Service Corps clinician, you need a valid professional healthcare license, clinical expertise in your field (such as primary care, dentistry, or mental health), and a demonstrated commitment to serving underserved populations. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), telehealth platforms, and compliance with federal and state healthcare regulations is often required. Strong interpersonal communication, cultural competence, and adaptability are essential soft skills for building trust and delivering effective care in diverse communities. These skills and qualifications ensure that clinicians provide high-quality, accessible healthcare to those in areas with limited resources, fulfilling the Corps' mission.

What are some unique challenges faced by clinicians working with the National Health Service Corps?

Clinicians in the National Health Service Corps often serve in Health Professional Shortage Areas, which can mean managing high patient volumes and addressing a broad range of health needs with limited resources. Adjusting to rural or underserved urban environments may require flexibility and strong problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a smaller clinical team. However, these challenges provide valuable opportunities for professional growth and community impact, while building strong patient-provider relationships in areas of greatest need.

Job description

National Sales Manager

Build Your Business. Expand Your Potential. Share in Our Success.

Allen Lund Company offers accomplished transportation sales professionals the opportunity to build and grow a national portfolio with the resources, reputation, and operational strength of one of the country’s leading third-party logistics providers.

As a National Sales Manager, you will have the freedom to pursue business across the country without geographic territory restrictions, supported by an uncapped commission structure designed to reward performance. You will also become part of an employee-owned organization where your contributions help shape the company’s continued success—and allow you to share in the value you help create.

This is an opportunity for a motivated sales professional to combine entrepreneurial independence with the stability, infrastructure, and support of an established industry leader.

Our Story: A Legacy of Integrity, Relationships, and Results

In 1976, Allen Lund founded a transportation brokerage company in Los Angeles with $1,000 and a clear belief: lasting success is built through integrity, strong relationships, and exceptional results.

Five decades later, Allen Lund Company has grown into a nationally recognized, top-20 non-asset-based third-party logistics provider with 42 offices across the country. While our capabilities, geographic reach, and technology have evolved considerably, the principles on which the company was founded continue to guide how we serve our customers, support our employees, and conduct business.

We combine the resources and stability of a national organization with an entrepreneurial culture that encourages initiative, accountability, and professional growth. Our people are trusted to pursue opportunities, develop creative solutions, and make a meaningful impact on the business.

The strength of that culture is reflected in the longevity of our employees. More than half of our team members have been with ALC for over 10 years—an uncommon distinction in our industry and a testament to the relationships, opportunities, and sense of shared purpose that define our organization.

As an employee-owned company, ALC provides employees with the opportunity to participate in shared ownership and profit sharing, along with a generous 401(k) match and comprehensive health and wellness benefits. We also invest in training, professional development, and leadership programs designed to support meaningful, long-term career advancement.

The Opportunity

The National Sales Manager is a highly visible revenue-generating role responsible for developing new shipper relationships, expanding strategic accounts, and creating long-term partnerships that contribute to the growth of the branch and the broader organization.

You will have the autonomy to develop and execute a national sales strategy based on your experience, relationships, and understanding of the transportation marketplace. Our non-territory-based model gives you the flexibility to pursue the strongest opportunities, while our uncapped commission structure ensures that your earning potential reflects the value and results you deliver.

You will be supported by experienced transportation brokers and operational professionals who manage the execution of the freight and uphold the service standards on which ALC has built its reputation. This collaborative structure allows you to dedicate your time and expertise to prospecting, developing solutions, strengthening customer relationships, closing business, and expanding accounts.

Our proprietary transportation management system and continued investment in advanced technology further support your success by providing the visibility, efficiency, and market intelligence necessary to compete effectively in an evolving logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy focused on sustainable revenue growth and long-term customer value.

  • Identify, qualify, engage, and secure new shipper opportunities across Dry Van, Refrigerated, Flatbed, and/or LTL transportation.

  • Build and manage a national pipeline without the limitations of a defined geographic territory.

  • Conduct consultative discovery to understand customers’ transportation networks, operational challenges, and long-term business objectives.

  • Develop tailored transportation solutions, proposals, and presentations that clearly communicate ALC’s value and capabilities.

  • Create strategic account-development plans designed to increase load volume, strengthen customer relationships, and expand revenue opportunities.

  • Collaborate with internal brokerage and operational teams to support consistent execution, responsive service, and an exceptional customer experience.

  • Cultivate trusted relationships with key decision-makers and establish ALC as a valuable, long-term transportation partner.

  • Represent Allen Lund Company with professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to our guiding principle: Customer, Company, Office.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will be an accomplished and highly motivated transportation sales professional with a demonstrated ability to develop new business, build credibility with decision-makers, and create profitable customer relationships.

Candidates should bring:

  • A minimum of three years of demonstrated success in non-asset-based 3PL sales.

  • Strong knowledge of Dry Van, Refrigerated, Flatbed, and/or LTL transportation markets.

  • A proven ability to prospect strategically, identify customer needs, communicate value, negotiate effectively, and close business.

  • The initiative and discipline to operate independently while collaborating closely with brokerage, operations, and branch leadership.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, relationship-management, and negotiation skills.

  • A high degree of comfort with technology and the ability to use systems and market intelligence to support sales strategy.

  • An entrepreneurial mindset characterized by initiative, resilience, accountability, and a strong commitment to results.

An established book of business is welcomed but not required. We are equally interested in proven sales professionals who have the ability, relationships, and determination to create new opportunities and develop them into lasting partnerships.

A bachelor’s degree is preferred; however, significant industry experience, demonstrated performance, and a strong record of success will receive full consideration.
