Summary

We are seeking a high-energy, results-driven National Business Development Director to spearhead UBG’s growth across our core national sectors. Based out of our Broomfield, CO headquarters, this leadership role is responsible for identifying new market opportunities, cultivating long-term strategic partnerships, and driving revenue through the acquisition of large-scale commercial and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate is a “Creator” archetype—someone who is never satisfied with the status quo and possesses a deep understanding of the construction industry, exceptional negotiation skills, and a proven track record of converting leads into high-value contracts. This position requires a proactive collaborator who can align client needs with UBG’s comprehensive design-build and facility maintenance solutions.

Responsibilities Strategic Growth & Market Expansion
  • Identify and execute strategic business development plans to expand UBG’s footprint in telecommunications, energy, and commercial real estate sectors.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activity to identify emerging opportunities and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Work with the CEO and CFO to align business development goals with company financial targets and long-term scaling initiatives.
  • Develop innovative strategies for client acquisition and market penetration across diverse geographical regions.
Relationship Management & Partnerships
  • Build and maintain meaningful, long-term relationships with national developers, REITs, and institutional clients.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with industry influencers, trade partners, and potential joint-venture stakeholders.
  • Partner with executives and clients to understand project visions and position UBG as the preferred national construction partner.
  • Collaborate with the UBG team and vendors to ensure seamless transitions from initial sales to project kickoff.
Sales Process & Bid Support
  • Manage the sales lifecycle from initial lead generation and qualification to final contract negotiation.
  • Coordinate with the estimating team to ensure that proposals and bids are accurate, competitive, and aligned with client expectations.
  • Review project schedules and prepare reports on sales pipelines, conversion rates, and revenue forecasts for leadership.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all proposal materials and RFIs/RFPs.
Brand Advocacy & Representation
  • Represent UBG at national industry conferences, networking events, and trade shows to enhance brand visibility.
  • Communicate UBG’s value proposition effectively to trade partners and prospective team members regarding new and future projects.
  • Stay informed on the latest construction technologies and sustainable building trends to maintain UBG’s position as a resourceful industry leader.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of successful business development or sales experience within the construction industry, specifically focusing on national accounts.
  • Sales Track Record: Proven ability to meet or exceed multi-million dollar annual sales targets.
  • Technical Skills: Minimum of three (3) years of experience utilizing CRM and construction management software, such as Procore.
  • Communication: Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to influence C-suite executives and stakeholders effectively.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel nationally (up to 50%+) as required to meet with clients and visit project sites.
