As a member of the Blue Origin family of companies, Honeybee Robotics has been at the forefront of robotics for over 40 years. Our Motion Control business unit in Longmont, Colorado specializes in the high-quality assembly of complex motion control hardware - including framed gear motors, solar array drive assemblies, multi-axis gimbals, and reaction wheel assemblies - all built to perform flawlessly in the most extreme environments. We are looking for technically sharp individuals who take ownership of their work, collaborate well in a team setting, and bring the attention to detail required to deliver excellence in spaceflight hardware within a high-tempo environment.

Honeybee Robotics, a Blue Origin company, is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Technician II to join our team of technicians and manufacturing engineers assembling flight and development hardware. Within our Motion Control business unit, you will contribute to mechanism and controller builds for systems and components destined to land on the moon, orbit the Earth, and advance the next generation of space exploration.

Special Mentions:

  • Must have the ability to successfully achieve the following certifications with the first 90 days of employment: IPC J-STD-001 Solder Certification with Space Addendum, NASA-STD-8739.4 Cable Harness Certification, NASA-STD-8739.1 Polymeric Application Certification

  • Expected hours from 7AM to 3:30PM with lunch break (Mon-Friday)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Follow standard workflow documentation.

  • Follow standard workmanship processes in accordance with IPC J-STD-001 Solder Certification with Space Addendum, NASA-STD-8739.4 Cable Harness Certification, NASA-STD-8739.1 Polymeric Application Certification

  • Soldering wire terminations, splices, and PCB work.

  • Polymerics (epoxy) mixing and application.

  • Cabling and harness assembly and modifications.

  • Precision mechanical assembly using standard hand tools and calibrated precision tools.

  • Testing and validation of assemblies.

  • Fundamental problem reporting Non-Conforming Material Processing.

  • Provide feedback to leadership and engineering regarding suggested updates to processes.

  • Demonstrate a strong bias for safety in operations and promote safety culture among team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) years of electro-mechanical technician experience in the aerospace or medical industries.

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical and electronics hardware

  • Working knowledge of standard mechanical electrical tools: torque wrenches, soldering irons, hand tools, etc.

  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including mechanical assembly drawings, electrical schematics, interconnect drawings, and wire lists.

  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and accurately document complex assembly processes.

  • Ability to fabricate complex military/space cables and harnesses (containing shielded and unshielded wires, coax, tri-ax, etc.) with crimp, solder, and other industry standard termination methods.

  • Perform layout, assembly, and wiring of complex electromechanical assemblies.

  • First-hand knowledge and experience with shop order routings and production procedures and processes.

  • Experience with soldering surface mount (SMT) and through-hole components on circuit card and flex circuit assemblies.

  • Experience with soldering, de-soldering, and reworking electronic assemblies.

  • Extreme attention to detail.

  • Experience working with Quality Control inspectors and Quality Assurance personnel.

  • Ability to interface and collaborate with Manufacturing and Design Engineering.

  • Strong skills in communication, reporting, and documentation.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Perform other duties as necessary

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of electronic technician experience.

  • Current certifications for the following workmanship standards needed for the position: IPC J-STD-001 Solder Certification, NASA-STD-8739.4 Cable Harness Certification or IPC-A-620 Space, NASA-STD-8739.1 Polymeric Application Certification or IPC-A-610.

  • Experience with assembly, integration, and test for components in aerospace applications.

  • Previous experience in the aerospace industry.

  • Previous experience in low-volume, high-mix production environment.

  • Experience with motion control systems such as motors, actuators, or mechanisms.

  • Experience with cleanroom operations and protocols.


Base Pay Range for:

CO applicants is $27.42 - $38.39

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
