Job description
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of the University of Maryland invites applications for
tenure-track faculty positions in all areas of chemistry and biochemistry. Candidates in the areas of
analytical, inorganic/materials, and chemical biology are particularly encouraged to apply. While
Assistant Professors are the focus of this search, exceptional senior faculty applicants will also be
considered for tenured Associate/Full Professor appointments. Applicants must demonstrate the potential
to develop renowned independent research programs and a commitment to teaching and mentoring
students at all levels. The term of appointment is expected to begin in August 2026.
Completion of a Chemistry Research Building in 2024 is catalyzing a new era in the chemical sciences at the University of Maryland. Multiple faculty members are sought to join a vibrant, interactive, and innovative community. They will join efforts to build up signature research themes including multidimensional biomolecular science, emergent materials &; sustainability, and multi-scale molecular science. The Department is dedicated to transformative research and education programs that impact society through the generation and application of new knowledge and the preparation of students for meaningful employment. To meet these objectives, the Department embraces and values faculty who are committed to advancing community and belonging through individual and team efforts.
