Job description
Regular is equivalent to tenure-track at other colleges. A complete description of the continuing contract and conversion process can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, article 11.
*Visa sponsorship may be available for this position, contingent upon institutional approval and capacity to comply with federal immigration regulations. The college will not consider an employer-sponsored visa for this position if the petition is subject to the $100,000 payment required by the September 21, 2025 Presidential Proclamation.
Our teaching is student-centered, which means we are interested in helping students develop strong skills in critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaborative work. Because over 80% of our students come from underserved and marginalized groups, we are particularly invested in approaches to teaching that emphasize diversity and equity, that provide opportunities for challenge and growth, and that foster a learning environment where all are welcome and all can learn from each other.

- Ph.D. in Earth science, geology, hydrology, geomorphology, climate science, physical geography, environmental geochemistry, or a closely related field.
- Expertise in one or more areas of Earth systems science.
- Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring.
- Demonstrated commitment to field-based learning.
- Experience leading field courses or extended field programs.
- Experience collaborating across disciplines, connecting Earth systems science with social, cultural, policy, or community dimensions of environmental issues.
- Proficiency with GIS, spatial analysis, remote sensing, quantitative methods, or related analytical approaches.
- Experience working effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.

- List of 3 professional references, two of whom must submit letters of reference, with current email address and phone number for each reference.
