Job description

The Part-Time Custodian provides building support services that ensure a safe, clean, comfortable and pleasant environment for the school - and impacts all faculty, staff, students, and the general public. Reporting to the Manager of Custodial Services, the Part-Time Custodian is expected to behave in a professional manner, comply with policies and practices, and perform as a team member.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cleans administrative space, classrooms, restrooms, public and special events space; and dusts and cleans supply and return air vents; and cleans trash containers.
  • Cleans dusts and polishes furniture, removes litter and empties trash and recycling containers; washes windows, mirrors, and disinfects bathrooms.
  • Vacuums, sweeps and mops floors free of debris and dirt; and cleans stairwells, landings, exterior entrances, ramps, and other areas assigned.
  • Ensure economic use of supplies and compliance with all state, federal and local safety regulations.
  • As they clean, make note of any damage to equipment, furniture, or facilities, and report that to their immediate supervisor.
  • Transports all supplies and necessary equipment to complete assigned work.
  • Handles proper storage and care of equipment and supplies.
  • Ensures security of items issued such as keys, and radios.
  • Follows departmental policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager of Custodial Services or school administration. Examples of other duties assigned might include relevant tasks such as moving furniture, steam cleaning, relocating lost-and-found items, and supporting special events set up and break down.

Qualifications

  • Clear communication with coworkers, supervisors and others is essential at all times. While St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School is proud of its multicultural workplace, to avoid confusion in communication and promote safety in the workplace, St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School requires its custodial employees to use English when students are present or when communicating with coworkers or supervisors who only speak English.
  • Ability to observe safety rules and regulations that meet state, federal, and local governing jurisdictions.
  • Ability to perform at all levels of physical work including lifting, bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and scrubbing; ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use tools, equipment, and supplies of the trade in work assignments.
  • A positive attitude and customer service orientation.
  • Availability and willingness to work during a designated emergency.

Job Type: Part-Time

Schedule: Evening shift, Monday to Friday, 4:00pm - 9:00pm. On occasion, it may require some weekend work.

Pay: $17.67 per hour
