Job Summary
The Clinical Education Director provides strategic oversight of the clinical education component of the MS in Pathologists' Assistant program while also contributing to didactic instruction and broader program operations. This role ensures students achieve required competencies in alignment with NAACLS standards through outcomes-based education, continuous quality improvement (CQI), and comprehensive documentation and assessment processes. Responsibilities include developing and delivering clinical and didactic coursework, coordinating and expanding clinical rotations, evaluating student performance, and providing academic advising and mentorship. The Clinical Education Director also plays a key role in program development, growth, and sustainability by cultivating and maintaining clinical affiliation partnerships that support high-quality training experiences, expand enrollment capacity, and strengthen the program's regional and national presence. In collaboration with institutional leadership and clinical partners, the position contributes to strategic initiatives related to accreditation compliance, student recruitment, retention, graduate career placement, operational effectiveness, and program sustainability, while supporting the program's long-term success, competitiveness, and revenue-generating potential through the continued growth and quality of the educational experience.
Essential Functions
- Coordinate and manage clinical education, including rotation scheduling, course oversight, and alignment with program objectives and accreditation standards.
- Develop, evaluate, and maintain relationships with affiliated clinical sites to support high-quality training experiences. This includes actively working to expand available clinical sites, allowing the expansion of the Pathologists' Assistant Program, increased cohort size and opportunities offered.
- Teach graduate-level courses within the Pathologists' Assistant Program and an additional two courses per semester in Surgical and Autopsy Pathology for the clinical practicum; maintain an assigned teaching load of at least 24 semester credits per academic year, provide academic advising to students related to assigned courses, course development, assessment of student learning outcomes and continuous course improvement.
- Monitor, evaluate, and support student academic and clinical performance through ongoing assessment, advising, and counseling.
- Contribute to program operations, including accreditation compliance, student recruitment and admissions, and career placement support.
- Ensure the quality and effectiveness of the program by evaluating curriculum, faculty, and didactic and clinical training.
- Support other PHGE programs by coordinating the collection, organization, and maintenance of materials required for students to begin their clinical practicum experiences.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Master's Degree in Pathologists' Assistant Studies
- Minimum of 2 years of applicable experience
- Graduation from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant educational program
- Certification as a Pathologists' Assistant from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC, US), including the continued participation in the required maintenance of certification program
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in anatomic pathology clinical setting, preferred experience in graduate level teaching
- Knowledge of pedagogical methods, administration, and current NAACLS accreditation and certification procedures
