Job Description
Overview
The Myriad Phlebotomist is responsible for performing quality specimen collection services and other administrative duties on behalf of Myriad Genetics, Inc.
Shift: Monday-Thursday 7:30am-3:30pm
Pay: Starting at $21.63/hr
Responsibility
  1. Each employee's specific job responsibilities are uniquely defined by their individual training plan and assigned duties, but are generally defined as follows:
  2. Properly perform clinical specimen collection and process those specimens for Myriad lab testing in accordance with Myriad's standard operating procedures.
  3. Verify test requisitions and consent forms needed for Myriad lab testing.
  4. Transport specimens to courier services (FedEx) as needed.
  5. Accurately explain procedures to patients and collect blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and precise manner.
  6. Properly maintain confidentiality and accurate handling of patient information in accordance with Myriad's privacy policy.
  7. Maintain a safe and professional environment.
  8. Track all patient collection data and pending results with accuracy and guarantee completeness of documentation.
  9. Complete assigned training in a timely manner.
  10. Maintain an empathetic and respectful attitude toward all patients and clinical staff.
  11. Support the team in any audits of systems and processes.
  12. Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Phlebotomy certification (if applicable per state law).
  3. 2+ years of phlebotomy experience, preferably in a laboratory setting.
  4. Strong communication skills.
  5. Ability to work independently.
  6. Reliable transportation and current driver's license.
  7. Must have the flexibility to work extra hours to meet corporate and departmental goals.
  8. Must be able to travel domestically (up to 25%).

Physical Requirements
Lifting Requirements - medium work or exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force consistently. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, reaching, and repetitive motion. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions. Ability to move throughout an office or lab setting to perform work tasks. Ability to travel to, from, and around the offices of Myriad providers and customers-sometimes Myriad materials. Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions - exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid, noise, vibration, mists or gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, and radiant energy hazards. OSHA Category I - duties performed routinely requires exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.
