Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the IB Music Lead, the MYP Music Teacher is responsible for the following areas, including but not limited to:
Missional Responsibilities:
1. Live CVWS's mission to fulfill each learner's God-created identity by developing inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who love God, pursue excellence, cultivate well-being, and serve others.
2. Model the foundation and four pillars of the CVWS mission in the classroom and school.
3. Live and instruct the CREATION Life in the classroom, guiding students as they develop in each principle.
4. Develop students through the International Baccalaureate (IB) educational framework based on their programme of study.
5. Grow students holistic capabilities through Yale's RULER approach to social-emotional learning and development.
Teaching Responsibilities:
1. Teach music classes at Creation Village World School as directed by the Music Lead:
- Teaching music based on the IB standards while integrating with other subjects.
- Provide music instruction for students in 7th through 10th grade.
- Create and instruct lesson plans that are engaging and integrated with IB global context;
- Teach students the fundamentals of music, including the integration of faith and academics, and relate to and inspire confidence in students;
- Maintain records of progress;
- Create superb finished productions with student talent in the array of performance opportunities: concerts, musicals, ensambles, and other creative performances;
- Foster a spirit of partnership and collaboration with other performing arts disciplines;
- Assess students and analyze results; refine and differentiate classroom instruction based on assessment data and student needs;
- Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needs;
- Manage student behavior to ensure every student is fully engaged;
- Inspire mixed culture and ability classes, by creating challenging and engaging learning opportunities for all students
- Assessment, based on IB standards, including but not limited to Formative, Summative, and development of the wholechild portfolio.
- Design, prepare and deliver highquality lessons to suit the individual needs of all students inline with CREATION Life and the IB to include cross transdisciplinary subject areas.
- Integrate Agency, ATL, ATT, Learner Profile, Central Idea, and Themes into daily instruction across disciplines.
- Inspire mixed culture and ability classes by creating challenging and engaging learning opportunities for all students.
- Collaborate with other teachers to share new ideas, approaches, and professional knowledge.
- Communicate accurately and regularly with parents via daily, weekly, and quarterly through inperson and portfolio updates.
- Liaise with the Head of the Lower School and Head of School to ensure effective delivery of the curriculum to specified classes, including selecting resources and managing them efficiently in the classroom.
- Contribute to the extracurricular activities program and participate in school activities such as chapels, evening events, conferences, and PD training.

- Complete the annual professional development plan as outlined by the school leadership
- Contribute to the professional development of others, giving support and willingly sharing ideas and materials
- Participate in community building activities through classroom and school events as well as after school activities: Take part in bi-annual Open Houses, Display student learning in IB exhibitions and parent nights, Attend school concerts, performances, and events, Parent and Student-led conferences.

2. Implement IB in instructional practice to include but not limited to:
- Read IB grade-specific documents before teaching each unit.
- Become proficient in integrating ATL, ATT, Learner Profile, Central Idea, and Themes into instruction.
- Actively participate in the required IB category and other training connected to the best practices.
- Complete assigned pre-work before weekly coaching conversations.
- Attend as scheduled and actively participate in coaching meetings/calls weekly.
- Apply a reflective practice through listening, asking questions, applying new understandings, collecting data (documents, pictures, video), analyzing data, and planning with an instructional coach.
- Utilize the CVWS IB Templates as the foundation for creating Weekly Lesson Plans while incorporating other school curricula and approved resources.
- Track and monitor student progress through Toddle to grade-specific standards using the Learning Target Checklist.
- Actively participate in PLCs to create a transdisciplinary approach to instruction and integrate it into project-based learning.
- Complete reflection surveys/interviews.
- Utilize recorded videos of individual lessons as part of the Impact Cycle.
- Submit Weekly Lesson Plans by the Monday before instruction at 9:00 am for review/feedback.
- Meet weekly with the Head of Academics or Coordinator to review lesson plans, student portfolios, and assessments.
- Weekly input grades and comments into Toddle for tracking.
- Weekly input portfolio elements into Toddle and the physical portfolio for review.
- Quarterly complete report cards for review by Head of Academics one week before report card release.
- Follow through with "action plans" indicated by leadership.
3. Develop students in mind, body, and spirit:
- Integrate with Creation Village's classroom management, instruction, and routines.
- Utilize 21st Century skills within lessons and classroom rotations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate room that creates a safe and enjoyable learning environment for the students.
- Observe, evaluate, document, and report each student's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health to the lead teacher.
- Identify students showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems, and report the situation to the lead teacher, Dean, or Head of School.
- Meet with the Head of Academics to discuss each student's progress and needs, determine their priorities for the student, and suggest ways to promote learning and development.
- Involvement and leadership in an extra-curricular club, activity, or organization as determined by the teacher and Head of Academics.
Teacher Professionalism:
- Have a working knowledge of teachers' professional duties as specified in the school's handbook.
- Follow the school calendar.
- Take account of broader curriculum developments and requirements within the relevant IB program.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of good practice in teaching techniques and seek to engage in professional conversation within the school.
- Inspire trust and confidence in students and colleagues.
