Macro Vantage Levant USA (MVL) is a well-established design-build firm supporting the US federal government's construction programs around the world.  MVL is bidding work for various US Military contracting entities throughout the US.  MVL has a client-focused culture and delivers high-quality, on-time projects.  We are looking for like-minded, dynamic individuals to come and join our rapidly expanding team.

We are currently seeking a Construction Manager/General Superintendent  to serve on a project team for a multi-year contractNo security clearance is required for this position, but ability to pass a background check is required to gain access to the worksite. The duration of this project is anticipated to be 24 months from Notice to Proceed (NTP). Work will start late summer 2019.

Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Construction Manager/General Superintendent is responsible for the overall success, safety and timely completion of the project. This person will plan and manage project construction activities and schedules and provide technical consultation to project teams, government agencies and clients.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Identifies and confirms availability of resources needed and assigns individual work responsibilities for look ahead schedules and for execution of daily construction efforts.  Timely advises Project Manager of shortfalls and develops contingency plans to ensure that work stays on schedule and budget.
  • Manages and executes day-to-day aspects of a project's construction and scope
  • Reviews plans for and manages execution of all work by his subordinate superintendents, subcontractors, and firm personnel
  • Effectively applies our methodology and enforces project standards
  • Provides confirmation and documentation of work performed for billing purposes
  • Minimizes MVL's exposure and risk on the project
  • Ensures work is performed safely and timely in accordance with the contract documents and proactively and retroactively alerts the project manager issues. 
  • Facilitates team meetings effectively
  • Effectively communicates project information to superiors
  • Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion
  • Develops lasting relationships with client personnel that foster client ties
  • Delivers project on-time, safely, within budget, to the standards specified
  • Ensures that a minimum of one (1) superintendent is on site at all times.
  • Other duties as directed by the Project Manager
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must be fluent in reading, speaking, and writing English and English-language construction terminology.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory field experience as a construction / project manager.
  • Experience working as the General Contractor on international, US federal, State, or Municipal design-build and construction contracts
  • Knowledge of scheduling and organizational techniques
  • Possess strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge, skill, and experience with construction methods, techniques, and standards.
  • Must also provide specific area(s) of practice/expertise (e.g., civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, materials, finishes, etc.), if any.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • US federal construction industry experience
  • US Army Corps of Engineer or NAVFAC experience on projects of similar size and scope. 
  • Military Service and/or Experience working with the military
