Menchey Music Service Inc. is looking for motivated and passionate people to join our retail team! Join us at one of our eight premier locations located in both Pennsylvania and Maryland!

Menchey Music Service Inc. was started in 1936 and has been a music retailer for the local community since the inception. We pride ourselves in fulfilling the needs of the parents and students of the community as well as supporting school music programs and teachers through providing honest advice about our quality products and services. We strive to make the music community a better one.

We are looking to hire a part-time or full-time sales associate for our Reading location who enjoys playing music and learning more about the industry. As a retail associate at Menchey Music, you will be important to providing helpful and accurate knowledge and guidance to guarantee that our customers have a great experience. If you have a passion for music and helping others on their musical journey, we would love to speak with you. This job will require you to work in a customer-facing environment, interacting with customers in-person, over the phone, and through email.


Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Work with customers to complete sales of instruments, music accessories, and sheet music.
  • Process band and orchestra rental contracts - our rental program makes music accessible to everyone.
  • Register customers for lessons and engage in conversation regarding the store's private lesson program The Menchey School of Music.

Other responsibilities:

  • Become familiar with the products and manufacturers that the company works with
  • Complete training on basic instrument knowledge, sales techniques, and new products
  • Answer customer questions and concerns, understanding when to ask for help
  • Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and organized storefront
  • Open and close the store according to store policies
  • Basic money handling and ability to accurately balance cash drawer

Our store employees earn a competitive hourly wage plus a lucrative commission plan as well as a generous employee discount.

Requirements:
  • Current High School Student or HS Diploma/GED
  • Ability to play at least 1 musical instrument
  • General knowledge of musical instruments and written music

This is not a summer position.
