Job description

Are you called to use music as a source of comfort, connection, and dignity at end of life? We are seeking a Music Therapy Intern to join our Hospice and Hospice Inpatient Unit team and support patients and families through compassionate, personโ€‘centered care.

The Music Therapist Intern will work under the supervision of a Boardโ€‘Certified Music Therapist (MTโ€‘BC) to provide therapeutic music interventions to patients receiving hospice care, including those in an inpatient hospice unit. This internship offers meaningful clinical experience in endโ€‘ofโ€‘life care, focusing on emotional support, legacy work, pain and symptom management, and family engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and facilitating individual and group music therapy sessions for hospice patients
  • Provide therapeutic support to patients and families coping with terminal illness, grief, and anticipatory loss
  • Utilize music interventions for relaxation, comfort, emotional expression, reminiscence, and legacyโ€‘building
  • Observe, document, and evaluate patient responses in accordance with hospice care standards
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team (nursing, social work, chaplaincy, volunteers)
  • Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings, and professional development activities

Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in an AMTAโ€‘approved Music Therapy program
