The Seattle Symphony unleashes the power of music, brings people together and lifts the human spirit. Recognized as one of the "most vital American orchestras" (NPR), the Seattle Symphony is internationally acclaimed for its inventive programming, community-minded initiatives, and superb recordings on the Seattle Symphony Media label. With a strong commitment to new music and a legacy of over 150 recordings, the orchestra has garnered five Grammy Awards, 26 Grammy nominations, two Emmy Awards and was named Gramophone's 2018 Orchestra of the Year. The Symphony performs in Benaroya Hall in the heart of downtown Seattle from September through July, reaching over 500,000 people annually through live performances and radio broadcasts.

Position Overview:

Provide excellent customer service and function as front line contact person for patrons and guests of the Seattle Symphony and other Benaroya Hall events.


Essential Job Functions:

Greet patrons, hand out event materials and direct accurately to seat location

Responsive to patron needs; remain proactive, visible and approachable

Assist patrons with ADA/special needs

Anticipate and problem-solve seating situations; and escort patrons to seats during late seating

Assist at any of the assigned positions including Coat-check and Sound-lock

Operate 2-way radio and wear headset when in use

Assist with event set-up/tear-down needs such as tables, chairs and recycling event materials

Responsive to emergencies and able to assist in the evacuation of patrons from the venue

At scheduled start time, be ready and in uniform


Qualifications:

Enjoy contributing value when supporting events at the Hall

Enjoy mentoring volunteer ushers

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress

Ability to provide excellent customer service

Ability to solve problems quickly and courteously

Willingness to work flexible hours, both weekdays and weekends and be available a minimum of two (2) dates per week

Professional appearance and demeanor

Dress code requirement.

Specific vision abilities require close visual acuity for viewing computer ticket scanners and mobile device screens, as well as reading, preparing, entering and/or analyzing data on these devices

This position requires repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and fingers for entering information on mobile devices and regular pinching, picking up, and holding pencils and other devices and materials

Must have the ability to lift 30 pounds as needed
