Job Description
INTRODUCTION
Tianjin Juilliard's Public Education serves students from different age groups, professional levels, backgrounds and experiences. Our exciting and innovative music programs and projects exemplify Tianjin Juilliard's educational values and approach to developing well-rounded musicians and music learners.
Music Literacy is a comprehensive music foundation course for elementary school students ages 6-12 that covers general music, history, and music theory, leading students to explore the world of music from multiple perspectives and showing them how the power of music connects people, communities, and cultures around the world. This course covers the history of music and music theory.
Using an experiential learning method, students will be inspired through diverse and interactive musical activities. Through the exploration of history's greatest master works, students will learn to empathize with composers and will be introduced to world cultures through music. Students will engage by feeling, imagining, understanding, expressing, analyzing, and composing music. This multisensory approach will lead students to connect with music in a very natural and fundamental way.
This is a part-time position with hourly pay. The teacher must be willing to travel to Tianjin on Sundays. Applicants must be eligible for part-time work in China.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent is responsible for teaching the Music Literacy course in a bilingual setting.
Additional responsibilities:
• Participate in training sessions with Tianjin Juilliard trainers, as necessary
• Learn the course curriculum and deliver the lessons in a fun and engaging way
• Work closely with the Public Education Department and participate in meetings, as necessary
• Essential communication with the class(es)
• Observe students in class, offer feedback, and assess quality of their participation
• Periodical reports need to be provided if requested
• Participate in marketing events as necessary
Qualification:
• A minimum of master's degree in Music or Music Education
• Chinese citizens with strong English ability; graduates of overseas universities preferred
• Experienced classroom teachers
• Ability to balance professional demeanor with fun and energetic personality
