Plan, develop, and implement communications and marketing materials that advance Premera's goals, with a focus on healthcare providers. Consult with business partners and leaders to develop content, identify appropriate communication strategies, develop and execute communication plans, and use communications to help manage change. Provide guidance to leaders across the organization in creating effective communications for internal or external use.
This highly visible role uses communications to raise awareness of company goals, important projects, and corporate strategy, and helps protect and manage the company's reputation.
What you will do:
  • Plan, develop, create, edit, implement, and evaluate effective communications to accomplish business objectives, which may include: communications strategies, content development, creative direction, writing and editing of print, online, social media, video, or presentation materials; leadership communications support (speechwriting, major communications, board presentations, etc.); corporate storytelling, earned and sponsored content, press releases, crisis communications, and issues management.
  • Consult with executives and employees on projects and initiatives about how communications can support their goals and objectives.
  • May serve as internal or external company spokesperson, in collaboration with marketing and communications leadership.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships inside and outside the company, which may include media, community groups, producers, providers, etc.
  • Advance and protect Premera's reputation, and ensure that messages are consistent in voice, tone, and messaging.
  • Oversee and maintain accountability for content and functionality of intranet sites (internal company news) or corporate blogs and newsletters (external) and social media (owned channels). Maintain an editorial calendar, edit content from contributors, analyze site metrics, survey readers, and make recommendations for future improvements.
  • Partner with communication staff, employees, and contract writers to ensure effectiveness and consistency of messages and communication plans. May include overseeing external media agencies.
  • Apply creative and technical skills to develop and produce communication content that is engaging and meets objectives of communication efforts. Work with creative design, video, or web designers as needed to oversee materials.
  • Research trends to continually work toward best-in-class communication vehicles and tools. Stay current by exploring and incorporating interactivity/social channels of communication.
  • Oversee communications calendar and ensure strategic coordination and implementation for both internal and external audiences of all communications plans and activities.
  • Write speeches, talking points, and support executives with various communications tactics and strategies as needed. This may include community engagement, speaking opportunities, and industry events.
  • Support additional team projects as needed.

What you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or Business or four (4) years' work experience. (Required)
  • Five (5) years of progressive responsibility in communications. (Required)
  • Experience managing communication projects or initiatives. (Required)
  • Public speaking experience. (Required)
  • Communications or public relations experience. (Preferred)
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft 365 suite. (Preferred)
  • Strong multimedia and writing skills. (Preferred)
  • Regulated industry or healthcare experience. (Preferred)

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.
The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.
National Plus Salary Range:
$84,200.00 - $143,100.00
*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
