Regional Plumbing Operations Manager

Job description

$120,000 to $135,000 base salary with a 20% annual bonus target and total pay up to $190,000.

Initially based in Seattle with a potential office move to the Kent Valley at the end of 2026.

Lead Plumbing Operations in the Puget Sound Region for a large, family-owned plumbing company

Couffley Home Services is a 100% family-owned operator of Mr. Rooter Plumbing franchises across Oregon and Washington.  We focus exclusively on service plumbing, drain cleaning, and sewer services. We are building one of the Pacific Northwest's premier plumbing organizations without private equity investors and without the complication of other trades. We are proud to be plumbers.

For more than 30 years, Mr. Rooter Plumbing has served customers throughout Portland and Seattle.  Couffley Home Services operates seven locations and we are investing in exceptional field leadership to support our continued growth.  We are searching for a Regional Plumbing Operations Manager to lead our Seattle-area field teams.  Initially responsible for multiple locations, this role will expand as our Puget Sound business grows.

What Mr. Rooter Plumbing expects of the Regional Plumbing Operations Manager

The Regional Plumbing Operations Manager takes full ownership of field operations throughout the assigned market. This is not a desk-management position. Success comes from visible leadership, frequent time in the field with plumbers, thoughtful coaching, and close collaboration with other departments to maintain a positive and professional culture.  Performance is measured through clear financial and operational metrics, coupled with the spirit of the team.

The primary responsibilities include:

  •  Earn the plumbers’ trust as their leader.  The team will follow you and respond to your coaching when they trust you. Trust is earned by consistently delivering on commitments and through shoulder-to-shoulder experiences. The best experiences often come during a ride-along, working in a crawlspace together.
  • Be the approachable face of Mr. Rooter Plumbing in the region.  When a customer requires “a call with the manager”, it’s you. When a supplier stops by “looking for the boss”, your office is the destination. When a Plumber doesn’t know how to sign-up for a 401(k), they’ll likely ask you instead of reading the handbook and you’ll patiently connect them with the right person.
  • Deliver sales results with character.  Consistently achieving ambitious performance targets is critical. Doing it the right way is the only way. You will never be asked to “do whatever it takes” to hit a revenue goal at Mr. Rooter Plumbing. You will hear these expectations regularly and repeat them to your team: “Take care of the customer,” “Pull a permit and get it up to code,” and “We never sell anything the customer does not need or want.”

The ideal candidate brings these attributes and experiences:

  •  A leader of trade professionals. Demonstrated success leading residential service plumbers or other skilled trade professionals in a home services business.  Possesses the technical breadth to earn credibility with experienced tradespeople.
  • A builder of people. Track record of repeatedly identifying potential and then helping others develop. Former teammates should eagerly say, “I am better today because I worked with them.”
  • Operational discipline. Proven history of hitting budget targets through daily performance measures and running repeatable processes.  Able to elevate when surprises come, but does not rely on daily firefighting.
  • Independent, not isolated.   Relishes individual responsibility while remaining an engaged member of a larger leadership team. Experienced collaborating with leaders of other departments and knows both when to ask for help and when to offer it.

How Mr. Rooter Plumbing supports the Regional Plumbing Operations Manager

The Regional Plumbing Operations Manager joins an organization that combines the sophistication and financial stability of a large home services company with the accessibility of an owner-led business.

  •  Engaged ownership. You will work directly with involved owners who believe leadership should be visible, accessible, and willing to invest in good ideas. The path for debate and approval is short. A great idea from the team can quickly become reality.
  • Experienced field leadership. You will report to our Vice President of Field Operations, a 22-year Mr. Rooter veteran whose primary focus is coaching technicians and developing leaders. You will also work alongside peer managers in Oregon and Southwest Washington who have each spent at least a decade with the company.
  • A sophisticated operating business. Multi-location operations are supported by documented processes, business intelligence reporting, cloud-based systems, and a leadership team committed to using data.  This organization is large enough to invest in the people, systems, and tools that help leaders succeed.
  • Room to grow. We expect both this role and our Puget Sound business to grow significantly. As we build the business and team, this leader will grow alongside them – adding responsibility, developing future Field Supervisors, and helping shape the strategy of our regional operations.

Total compensation and benefits include:

  •  $120,000 to $135,000 base salary depending on experience and demonstrated performance.
  • Annual incentive plan with a 20% target bonus opportunity. Like all Branch Managers at Mr. Rooter Plumbing, incentive compensation is based primarily on branch gross margin performance with adjustment for overall company profitability up to 2x bonus target.
  • 401(k) with generous employer match and immediate vesting. 100% match on the first 3%, plus 50% match on the next 2%.
  • Three weeks of paid time off.
  • Six paid holidays.
  • Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance with $6,900 annually contributed toward employee premiums by Mr. Rooter Plumbing.
  • Company vehicle, fuel card, laptop, mobile phone, uniforms, and the equipment needed to successfully perform the role.
