Haven Housing, a wholly owned subsidiary of privately held and Los Angeles based BH Properties, operates as an investment vehicle for the sole purpose of acquiring affordable and market rate multifamily communities throughout the western half of the United States. Formally launched in early 2025, Haven Housing now owns nearly 4,000 units in 13 communities.
BH Properties is a privately held commercial real estate investment firm focused on value-add acquisitions in office, industrial and retail properties throughout the Western United States along with investments in distressed debt and ground leases. The Company is vertically integrated, with regional offices in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Riverside, Phoenix, Dallas, Austin, Houston and Seattle and can acquire and close transactions, in most cases, in as little as ten days. Founded thirty-two (32) years ago and operating with no outside capital partners allows us advantages in moving quickly and creatively in structuring acquisitions to satisfy seller needs. Today, the Company owns and operates approximately12 million square feet across 18 states.
POSITION
The Company is seeking an Asset Manager for a portfolio of both market-rate and affordable multifamily assets located throughout Texas with primary responsibility for strategic oversight and performance. Although many of the assets are in the Austin metroplex, the Company intends to grow its portfolio ultimately requiring travel. The position will report to the Haven Housing's Managing Director of Operations
LOCATION
Austin, TX
RESPONSIBILITIES
Including, but are not limited to:
  • Analyze monthly financial statements to monitor property performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with third party management groups to positively influence site team performance.
  • Participate as needed in rent pricing strategy and make recommendations and adjustments as necessary.
  • Negotiate third party contracts and drive additional income potential.
  • Identify market trends and direct property management partners to react as needed.
  • Monitor property performance as compared to comparable properties in the market.
  • Review marketing programs and performance and adjust as needed.
  • Conduct regular property visits.
  • Prepare periodic internal reporting and present weekly to Company's management team.
  • Coordinate with internal and external parties for capital project execution to include bid review, contract negotiation and project supervision.
  • Participate in annual budget creation and review process.
  • Assist in due diligence and escrow activities for property transactions as needed.
  • Travel required - 30%

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • College degree desired.
  • Minimum 5 years of broad-based multi-family asset management; market rate and affordable housing experience desired.
  • Experience with financial reporting, variance analysis and budgeting to include capital improvement planning.
  • Understand real estate asset management principles to include portfolio optimization and value creation strategies.
  • Strong communication skills with both internal & external customers and at all levels within the organization.
  • Understand contracts, leases and leasing objectives.
  • Ability to initiate bid requests, vendor and contractor management.
  • Ability to present self and company in a professional manner in all customer communications and actions.
  • Solid time management skills with the ability to prioritize, organize and successfully balance multiple tasks and requests.
  • Must be able to exhibit initiative and work independently.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a team player and work well with Senior Management, tenants, contractors and other daily contacts.
  • MS Office proficiency expected.
  • Experience and understanding of lead tracking programs.
  • Yardi Voyager experience a plus.
