Overview

The Flight Operations Manager will focus on fixed-wing imagery project assignments and capture execution via our internal and external flight suppliers. This role requires comfort behind a computer screen, on the phone, and in person. Safety, efficiency, communication, and logistical coordination are foundational pillars to the success of this role. The image capture business is weather dependent and requires a broad command of seasonal limitations across the continental United States, Canada, and Hawaii. Experience in logistics, scheduling, and a background in using technology to solve critical, real-time problems are necessary for success.

This is a full-time remote role, with a preference for candidates based in the Rochester, NY area. The base salary range is $60,000 to $70,000, with a 10% bonus potential.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the strategy and execution of the assignment and distribution of all imagery capture projects to meet product spec and customer expectations.
  • Communicate with key Flight Supplier personnel to ensure flight assignments are executed safely, efficiently, and within product specification.
  • Support the tracking and analysis of workload progress and constantly rebalance amongst the fleet to give the best chance of capture success.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal stakeholders to ensure all pre- and post-capture-related activities are completed in a timely manner.
  • Support the fleet deployment and decommissioning of assets via supplier communication.
  • Assist with performance metric evaluation for Flight Suppliers.
  • Maintain daily production reporting.
  • Coordinate and facilitate access to controlled/prohibited/restricted airspace via ATC, military personnel, or others.
  • Facilitate the flight logistics needs of the test, validation, and research and development programs.
  • Support the Disaster Response Program initiative to ensure safe, effective, and timely capture post-event that qualifies for DRP.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Imaging Science, Business, Communications, Supply Chain, or related.
  • 2+ years related work experience in scheduling, logistics, or GIS.
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt quickly and under constraint.
  • Well-organized, dependable, self-sufficient.
  • Flexible schedule to support the fleet management across multiple time zones, weekends, holidays.
  • Comfortable on the phone for quick decisions and rapidly changing priority direction.

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of Imaging, GIS, and remote sensing.
  • Communication and technical skills – comfort across multiple technology platforms, cloud-based services, Microsoft products.
