Job description

The MST Supervisor will carry clinical and administrative supervisory responsibilities for 1-2 MST teams of 2-4 therapists. Supervisor conducts weekly group supervision and training for MST team to assure adherence to MST principles and the MST analytic process, and to assure clinician competency in implementation of interventions. Supervisor also conducts individual supervision as needed to target clinician competency needs and to remove individual barriers to effective implementation of MST treatment. Is responsible for assuring availability of clinical and administrative support to individuals in MST treatment 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Supervisor will collaborate with stakeholders, both external in the community and within the provider agency while promoting and educating about MST with both internal and external stakeholders. Is responsible for generating and managing case referrals and managing clinician caseloads. Collaborates actively with MST Expert around implementation of MST by the program, and to ensure continued development of own clinical skills and knowledge of relevant research. Manages and reports data on clinical outcomes and program practices. Also delivers MST to a caseload of 1-2 families, as required to address program need.

  • Masterโ€™s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related subject area required
  • Full, unrestricted license as LPC, LCSW, or LMFT strongly preferred
  • Provisional license considered dependent on completed supervised hours and yearsโ€™ experience in MST
  • Minimum 1 year serving as MST Therapist required
  • Valid Texas driverโ€™s license and must have reliable transportation to provide community-based interventions
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English highly preferred

Other Preferred Experience:

  • Direct use of pragmatic (i.e., structural, strategic, and functional) family therapies
  • Therapy with children and adults using cognitive behavioral techniques
  • Couples therapy using behaviorally based approaches
  • Behavioral therapy targeting school behavior and academic performance
  • Implementation of interventions within or between systems in the youthโ€™s natural ecology that affect or influence the behavior of the youth (i.e., family, peer, school, and neighborhood)
  • Collaboration and partnership with community agencies
  • Previous work providing in-home or community-based therapy services
  • Time management skills and ability to actively participate in all MST training, supervision, consultation, and development activities
  • Organizational skills to effectively manage high need/acute caseload and adhere to crisis procedures
  • Strong skills in conceptualization of family dynamics and problem behaviors within the ecological contexts of youth
  • Skilled in active change-management treatment and practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to collaborate with a large stakeholder system and other community agencies
  • Knowledge of community mental health system of care and CCBHC
  • Knowledge in theories and applications of: family systems, social ecological theory, behavioral therapies, CBT, pragmatic family therapies, child development research and its application in treatment, social skills assessment and intervention
