Job Responsibilities

J.W. Harris Co. Inc. in Gainesville, GA seeks a Strategic Sourcing Manager to oversee and lead a global, strategic sourcing team/managers responsible for spend categories that may include metals, stamping & machining, fittings & valves, gauges & meters, forgings, and/or castings.

  • Lead global welding equipment industry procurement, including Direct (Raw materials, components, finish good products) and Indirect (MRO, services, capital investment) spend commodities.
  • Maximize working capital results and minimize risk impact in a global scale.
  • Source and negotiate the most competitive cost on commodities and using SIOP to maintain high fill rates.
  • Manage logistics regarding customs compliance and import and export regulations.
  • Oversee and lead a Global Sourcing Council with representatives from key stakeholder functions, who will contribute to the creation, ratify, and proliferate the strategic sourcing plan for the spend category managed.
  • Analyze data utilizing BW (Business Work) and other supply chain tools. 
  • Manage a team of a sourcing specialist(s), who will help define and proliferate global sourcing strategies by setting up department global goals to support achieving corporate goals, defining and proliferating global sourcing strategies, delegating and monitoring critical tasks and objectives, maintaining clear consistent communication in a daily basis, recognizing good work and supporting effectively on any weaknesses or risk detected in the process.
  • Define and implement a formal strategic sourcing plan.
  • Partner collaboratively with all parts of the business, as well as the global procurement network, and implement procurement strategies and policies, applying a structured approach. This involves collaboration with global teams from R&D, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, Finance, Compliance on COE (Center Of Excellence) through monthly meetings to ensure effective alignment and support on global strategies achievement.
  • Support tactical execution from the selected supply chain and manage supplier performance and the organization's profitability through completion of production. Manage critical supplier relationships and performance evaluations.
  • Define and achieve objectives by demonstrating a clear understanding of the business structure, good communications skills, a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to multitask and coordinate with various functions. This involves daily, weekly, monthly meetings with cross functional teams.
  • Ensure an optimized supply of material with the percentage of time spent on each activity. 
  • Lead the cross-functional Global Sourcing Council by creating global procurement strategies and plans to be executed by the tactical purchasing teams that optimize material cost and ensure supply base meets the cost, delivery and quality requirements.
  • Manage SAP system and update data in MRP including lead times, lot sizes, safety stocks, forecasts, reorder points, purchasing info records, source lists.
  • Identify supply chain risks and monitoring the global market forces related to supply chain to avoid potential issues/risks.
  • Lead and creating supplier contract agreements, performing risk analysis and preparing for supplier negotiations.
  • Manage eAuctions and RFPs through SAP (Ariba) to execute global spend negotiations and contracts to leverage and obtain the best commercial terms.
  • Document, communicate, and implement the supply chain strategy to executive management.
  • Lead the non-assigned direct materials in the local manufacturing.
Job Requirements
  • Must have Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or closely related including Materials Science and/or Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Must have 2 years of experience as Corporate Senior Buyer or related.
  • Must have 2 years of experience with: leading global welding equipment industry procurement, including Direct (Raw materials, components, finish good products) and Indirect (MRO, services, capital investment) spend commodities;
  • Must have 2 years of experience with maximizing working capital results and minimizing risk impact in a global scale;
  • Must have 2 years of experience with sourcing and negotiating the most competitive cost on commodities and using SIOP to maintain high fill rates;
  • Must have 2 years of experience with managing logistics regarding customs compliance and import and export regulations;
  • Must have 2 years of experience with managing SAP system and updating data in MRP including lead times, lot sizes, safety stocks, forecasts, reorder points, purchasing info records, source lists;
  • Must have 2 years of experience with managing eAuctions and RFPs through SAP (Ariba) to execute global spend negotiations and contracts to leverage and obtain the best commercial terms;
  • Must have 2 years of experience with managing critical supplier relationships and performance evaluations;
  • Must have 2 years of experience with analyzing data utilizing BW (Business Work) and other supply chain tools.
