The Department of Radiology at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, invites applications for a faculty position as Director, MRI Research. This position is open across all ranks, with an option for a tenure‑track appointment based on the candidate's qualifications and research trajectory.

We are seeking a visionary leader with expertise in MRI research to advance innovation in biomedical imaging science at Columbia University. Areas of focus may include, but are not limited to:

• Advanced MRI acquisition and reconstruction methods
• Quantitative imaging biomarker development
• Functional and structural MRI innovations
• Multi‑modal imaging integration
• Machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in MRI
• Novel MRI hardware and protocol development
• Imaging data science and its application to precision medicine

Candidates must demonstrate a strong track record of MRI‑focused research, including a history of impactful publications and funding success.

The Director of MRI Research will lead a cutting‑edge research program and contribute to collaborative academic initiatives. Responsibilities include:

• Developing and sustaining an independent and/or collaborative research program
• Leveraging Columbia University’s world‑class installed base of state‑of‑the‑art MRI systems, which includes advanced clinical and research scanners
• Partnering with industry leaders to drive technological and translational advancements in MRI
• Collaborating with departments and schools across Columbia University, including Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Informatics, Public Health, and the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC)
• Utilizing Columbia’s advanced informatics infrastructure for biomedical imaging, electronic health records, and multi‑omics data integration
• Teaching and mentoring students, residents, fellows, and postdoctoral researchers
• Driving initiatives to enhance MRI‑focused research within the Department of Radiology and across the broader academic and clinical communities

Salary range is $150,000 to $350,000. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Columbia University offers a competitive benefits package, including tuition reimbursement, tuition exemption for faculty pursuing advanced degrees, retirement plans, and ample time off for vacation and CME. A joint appointment with the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Columbia University is also possible.

• PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field. At least 8 years of experience in independent investigation is strongly desired.
