MRI Coordinator (Front Desk Receptionist - Imaging Department)

OrthoNY is seeking a Full-Time MRI Coordinator (Front Desk Receptionist - Imaging Department) to join our team. This position plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth and supportive experience for our patients receiving MRI services. It's a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment and wants to grow within a leading orthopedic practice.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for MRI patients, delivering warm, professional, and responsive service, obtains required information, documents and signatures;
  • Contacts other imaging centers to set up appointments for our patients and/or provides support to outside vendors;
  • Contacts patients to confirm their test appointment as well as ensures a follow-up appointment has been made
  • Performs check-out process, collects patient payments, including co-pays and any past due balances, post any cash collected into practice management system and issues receipt;
  • Schedules follow-up appointments and testing as provider directs:
  • Posts charges from encounter form in accordance with correct coding guidelines, using CPT, HCPCS and ICD 9 coding formats;
  • Performs accounts receivable work, balances and closes journal each day;
  • Other responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a medical setting; 3 years preferred;
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills;
  • Must be familiar with medical terminology;
  • Strong data entry skills.
