Position Overview

Amatriot is seeking an experienced Senior MQ Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the IBM MQ infrastructure that enables reliable and efficient messaging communication. This role involves configuring MQ objects, monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical expertise to support critical business applications.


Key ResponsibilitiesIBM MQ Infrastructure Administration
  • Design, implement, and maintain IBM MQ infrastructure, including queue managers, channels, queues, and other MQ objects.
  • Configure and manage MQ clustering, multi-instance queue managers, and high availability solutions to ensure message reliability and fault tolerance.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of MQ infrastructure by implementing appropriate access controls, encryption, and auditing mechanisms.
Performance, Capacity, and Reliability
  • Monitor and analyze MQ performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, optimize configurations, and tune MQ settings to enhance system efficiency.
  • Perform capacity planning and forecasting to ensure scalability and performance of MQ infrastructure.
  • Stay updated on the latest IBM MQ versions, patches, and industry best practices, and make recommendations for upgrades and improvements.
Technical Support and Documentation
  • Provide technical guidance and support to application developers, assisting in the integration of applications with MQ messaging.
  • Document technical configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for the MQ environment.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

QualificationsEducation
  • No degree required.
Experience
  • 12+ years of relevant work experience required.
  • 5+ years of Unix experience required.
  • 5+ years of DevOps / Infrastructure as Code experience required.
Other Requirements
  • Candidates must reside within a commutable distance for daily onsite work and on-call requirements.
  • This contract supports systems that require 24x7x365 uptime. Candidates must be willing and able to meet on-call requirements, including participation in a rotational on-call schedule, if required.
  • Due to contract requirements, only U.S. citizens can be considered.
  • Candidates with dual citizenship cannot be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • IBM System Administrator certification for MQ.
  • Team player and fast learner with the ability to work proactively and independently to support mission-critical operations across geographically diverse locations.
