SUMMARY
Speech-language pathologists provide a complete array of services to students with identified communication problems, including students whose primary disability is "speech-language impairment" and students with other primary disabilities who have needs in the area of communication (for example, students with autism, cognitive disabilities, developmental delay).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed by incumbents of this class. Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions, but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Pre-referral consultation to general and special education teachers.
  • Case management for students with speech-language impairments only.
  • Due process compliance, third-party billing, program data collection, funding reports, etc.
  • Evaluations: Comprehensive initial and reevaluations for all types of communication disabilities.
  • Standard-referred IEPs and IIIPs (intervention that supports literacy and other standards).
  • Direct intervention services to students in the least restrictive environment (include classroom-based service).
  • Indirect intervention and consultative services to teams. Teachers and parents.
  • Other site-based and special education duties, including support of district literacy goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training and Experience
  • Master's Degree in communication disorders.
  • A valid Minnesota teaching license in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • ASHA Certification preferred.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • A valid Minnesota teaching license in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • ASHA Certification preferred.

SALARY
Teacher Salary Schedule - 42 weeks
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
School environment; may involve lifting up to 40 pounds; and the ability to sit, walk, and/or stand for extended periods of time, both indoors and outdoors.
Final candidates may be invited to interview with a committee. Final appointment to this position will be contingent upon passing a criminal background check.
