Job description

1st shift Tooling Engineer
  • Participate and contribute in MOS (Midway Operating Systems) activities as required for Continuous Improvement.
  • Participate and contribute in tooling design reviews and approvals including: Engineering changes to assure feasibility, production worthiness, and meeting product design intent as well as Midway Products Group Tooling and Fixture Standards.
  • Authorized to participate as company representative in tool shop run offs to assure that tooling fixtures meet the design specifications and conformance to company build standards and production performance standards.
  • Coordinate as required plant activities for homeline tryouts of new tooling and fixtures to assure the PPAP dates are met.
  • Provide Engineering expertise, direction and assistance as required or requested to the Skilled Trades in resolving tooling related problems.
  • Designs special tooling and fixtures as required.
  • Contribute as required Tooling Engineering expertise to achieve plant performance objectives and LTA Cost Reduction programs.
  • Maintain the department's Tooling drawings and records.
  • Assist in the development and the maintenance of spare tooling, details, and parts for all new and existing tools, fixtures, and special equipment as required.
  • Authorized to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process, and quality system.
  • Performs other essential job functions as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have a minimum of a two year College Technical degree or equivalent experience, with six years experience in the field. Experience to include Tool and Die making (four year apprenticeship preferred) experience in a stamping plant preferred. Knowledge and Experience with Lean Manufacturing preferred
SPECIAL SKILLS: Must be able to verbally communicate well and write technical reports as required. Computer literate. AutoCad or Cad Experience.
