Job description

Ward Clerk/ Medicaid Biller Needed In Colorado Springs

Pay: $20 - $30ph + stipend (dependant upon mileage from home to work location) Start: May 2026 Contract: W2 Contract Length: at least 6 months Duties are as follows, but not limited to:

  • Safeguard and protect the inmate's right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the medical information and that all releases of information are in compliance with Colorado statutes and HIPAA regulations;
  • Manage requests utilizing a wide variety of applications for medical record information from inmates, third party payers and others;
  • Process requests in a timely and efficient manner within established timeline standards, maintaining quality and accuracy;
  • Determine validity of requests for release of confidential health care information;
  • Execute, copies and distributes the release of clinical information from health records;
  • Request clinical information from other agencies;
  • Schedule inmates for review of health records;
  • Prepare billing memorandums for medical release services rendered;
  • Explain procedure and legal requirements for release of information to offenders and others including a release of information for continuity of care;
  • Track all released and requested private health information;
  • All subpoenas duces tecums and court orders will be handled in conjunction with the Clinical Services Support Services Manager;
  • Procure, track and record inmate health record movement arriving in and out of the facility from other facilities and packages health records for facility movement;
  • Research present location of inmate in order to distribute forms and health records to proper facility according to HIPPA Policy;
  • Check for correct filing order, track dictation from specialists and hospitals and logs in computer as received;
  • Assemble paper and electronic protected health information for facility clinic appointments and offender movement to specialty clinics;
  • May schedule routine eye exam; orders, distributes and makes minor adjustments to eyeglasses;
  • Provide general office support; answers phone, order office and medical supplies, distribute and track medical grievances, arrange for repair of office equipment, monthly reporting, sort and distribute mail, may assist in entering payroll;
