Description:

Location: Primary office will be based out of Osceola, IA or Emmetsburg, IA


The Animal Production Logistics Coordinator is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and

communicating the pig flow and market hog movements to all pertinent individuals. This role

requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively with

various teams to ensure smooth operations. The Animal Production Logistics Coordinator will

report to the Animal Production Logistics Manager.


Job Responsibilities:

Coordinate and Schedule Animal Movements

  • Plan and schedule the transportation of animals between various stages of production, including from sow farms, wean-to-finish sites, and packing plants.
  • Ensure that all animal movements are compliant with safety regulations, welfare and biosecurity standards, and transport laws.

Optimize Logistics Operations

  • Track on-time delivery and communicate any delays to the receiving farm or plant.
  • Plan and schedule to maximize efficiency of movements.

Data and Reporting

  • Maintain detailed records of animal movements, locations, and transportation schedules.
  • Complete all pertinent paperwork, charts, and recording of all required data as determined by supervisor.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Provide dispatch services for all live animal movements
  • Communicate & work effectively with internal & external parties, such as production teams, farm managers, packing plants, and transportation companies to ensure that all logistics operations are executed smoothly regarding schedule changes transport delays or other issues that may arise.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:


Experience - Proven experience in logistics or animal production.


Skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for coordination with multiple teams.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to handle unexpected situations in a fast-paced
  • environment.
  • Ability to navigate Microsoft Office products with an understanding that Microsoft Excel will be used daily.
  • Ability and willingness to be trained and work with company specific software.
  • Thorough understanding and the ability to apply commercial swine production knowledge.

Education

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in either Animal Science or Agricultural related field.
