We are seeking a passionate, driven, and growth-minded Teacher in Residence to join our school community as they work toward full teacher certification. This role is ideal for aspiring educators who are ready to learn in a high-impact classroom environment, grow their instructional practice, and develop the skills needed to become a strong, effective teacher.
As a Teacher in Residence, you will work closely with a mentor teacher, school leaders, and instructional coaches to gain hands-on experience, receive targeted coaching, and build the foundation for a successful teaching career.

What You'll Do
You'll learn, lead, and grow while supporting scholars in the classroom every day.
As a Teacher in Residence, you will:
  • Support a mentor teacher in delivering high-quality instruction and classroom management

  • Help plan lessons, create materials, and implement instructional strategies
  • Support scholars' social-emotional development and positive behavior
  • Assist with data collection and progress monitoring to inform instruction
  • Build strong relationships with scholars, families, and staff
  • Participate in coaching cycles, professional development, and reflection
  • Complete requirements for teacher certification/licensure pathway

    • Associate's degree or higher OR
    • 60+ semester hours from accredited institution OR
    • Passing score on ParaPro Assessment (minimum 456)

  • Ability to meet state certification requirements
  • Commitment to Movement Schools' mission and values

Preferred Qualifications
Experience or training that supports your readiness for a classroom role is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with children in educational or community settings
  • Coursework in education, child development, or a related field
  • Experience with tutoring, mentoring, or coaching
  • Familiarity with classroom routines, behavior management, and lesson planning
