Established in 1972, Mount Vernon School serves over 1,250 students in Preschool through Grade 12 on our 40-acre Atlanta campus. The Athletic Team
Relationships are foundational for our athletic teams just as they are in the classroom at Mount Vernon. By prioritizing the connections built between coaches and our student-athletes, we create an environment of support, encouragement, and accountability that allows our students to achieve their athletic goals beyond what they ever imagined for themselves. More than 80% of our Upper and Middle School students participate in athletics. Participating in sports plays a positive role in supporting youth development, leading to improved academic achievement and stronger social and emotional well-being. Role
Community Coaches at Mount Vernon play an integral role in shaping student-athletes through skill development, mentorship, and teamwork. Coaches are part of a collaborative coaching team, partnering with colleagues and communicating with parents to foster growth both on and off the field. This is a position that is important to the culture of the school and has the opportunity to build on the successes of Mount Vernon's athletic program and be a part of the momentum as we continue our Let's Do This Campaign.
Responsibilities
  • Planning and managing the team's daily operations including practices, games, matches, etc.
  • Develop and implement effective and meaningful practice plans, drills, and coaching strategies
  • Regularly communicating with families, coaches, and players
  • Supporting students' academic growth
  • Updating calendars and communicating after-school events with stakeholders
