Madison Area Technical College is recruiting a pool of qualified part-time candidates to teach courses for the Motorcycle Safety program. Applications will be accepted on a continual basis for the 2026-2027 academic school year. Starting salary depends on qualifications and experience. Health and dental benefits are NOT provided.

Organizational Function and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for instruction in the Motorcycle Safety program at the college level. This includes developing a relevant and progressive curriculum, designing and implementing effective learning strategies and environments, delivering instruction of high quality, assessing student learning, advising students, and participating in college service activities at the department, division and college levels.
This position reports to the Associate Dean - School of Human and Protective Services.
Essential Duties:
The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
1. Responsible for facilitating student learning in the Motorcycle program including but not limited to the following courses: Basic Motorcycle Course, Experienced Motorcycle Course, and Motorcycle Maintenance.
2. Develop and plan appropriate instructional strategies and alternative delivery strategies when appropriate including but not limited to hybrid, face-to-face and on-line course delivery.
3. Assist and advise students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
4. Evaluate student performance and provide regular feedback in courses taught by the instructor.
5. Use data to continually revise curriculum to improve student learning.
6. Actively work with other personnel in student recruitment, retention and job placement. This includes developing strategies aimed at the recruitment and retention of minority students.
7. Develop and maintain curriculum in a variety of non-traditional formats to meet student delivery needs in collaboration with department/ division staff; participate in instructional and curriculum articulation activities with other programs, other Schools of the College, other colleges and universities, and District K-12 partners.
8. Function without direct supervision in a team environment with the ability to support a cohesive department atmosphere.
9. Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling, etc.
10. Assist students in developing work experience assignments such as clinical affiliations, work study assignments, team projects, etc.
11. Design and implement strategies to engage students in the learning process.
12. Integrate the use of technology into the teaching and learning process.
13. Attend School, program and advisory committee meetings; participate in appropriate staff development activities such as diversity awareness, technology training, etc.
14. Plan and implement professional development strategies to continually improve teaching and professional experience.
15. Maintain certification as an instructor with the Wisconsin Technical College System.
16. Comply with all aspects of Board policies, work rules, and the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
17. Demonstrate a commitment to the college's mission, vision and values.
18. Maintain certification as a RiderCoach with the Wisconsin Motorcycle Safety Program and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies; learner-centered instruction, active learning, assessment, evaluation; collaborative techniques; and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race, gender, and disability.
2. Skill in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods to deliver high-quality instruction (i.e., online, hybrid, and accelerated course formats, course software such as Blackboard, video, Telepresence, etc).
3. Skill in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds, as well as individuals with disabilities.
4. Skill in oral and written communication.
5. Ability to interact with business, industry, other educational institutions, and government agencies to establish partnerships.
6. Knowledge of and experience in coursework and teaching in specific areas such as: Basic Motorcycle Course, Experienced Motorcycle Course, and Motorcycle Maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation to teach the Basic Rider Course as a RiderCoach.
2. Ability to be certified by the Wisconsin Motorcycle Safety Foundation as a RiderCoach in Wisconsin. http://systemattic.wtcsystem.edu/certification/occexp/
3. Certified in First Aid.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS:
Madison College utilizes pool postings for all PT Instructor positions at the College. You will be considered as a POTENTIAL candidate who could possibly fill a position if/when the need arises. By posting these positions, there is no guarantee that Madison College will actually be hiring for this position.
Part-time Instructors are hired on a per course basis each semester, and teaching one semester does not guarantee assignment for the following semester. The teaching hours for a part-time instructor vary and can include day, evening, and weekend classes.
