Position Overview:

Freddie Mac's Single-Family Law Department is seeking an attorney to advise on complex transactions, mortgage operations, and technology matters. The attorney will have substantial ownership of matters and work directly with business leaders, operational teams, technology professionals, and counterparties.

Attorneys in the Single-Family Real Law Department of Freddie Mac's Legal Division are key advisors to our business colleagues in the development and implementation of internal policies that support affordable and sustainable housing.

Your Impact:
  • Advise on mergers, acquisitions, changes of control, conversions, transfers, and other material organizational changes involving Seller/Servicers.
  • Draft and negotiate assignment and assumption agreements, ratification agreements, conditional approval letters, amendments, and related transaction documents.
  • Manage assigned matters from initial review through closing and post-closing implementation.
  • Advise on the Single-Family Seller/Servicer Guide, Purchase Documents, and related rights, obligations, and remedies.
  • Support Guide, policy, form, and process development.
  • Advise on eMortgages, eNotes, electronic signatures, remote online notarization, digital collateral, and other mortgage technology initiatives.
  • Provide practical advice on technology, data, information security, artificial intelligence, and technology-enabled processes affecting Single-Family mortgage operations.
  • Develop risk-based solutions to novel legal, operational, and business issues.
  • Collaborate with Legal, business, operations, technology, risk, and compliance partners.
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor degree and active bar membership in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience with a law firm, financial institution, mortgage company, government-sponsored enterprise, or comparable organization.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: corporate transactions, mortgage banking or servicing, financial-services regulation, commercial contracts, or financial technology.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $186,000 - $280,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
