Job description

To provide oversight and coordination of mortgage loan production for a particular section of Mortgage Production. Conduct and coordinate training for the section staff to ensure loan application and documentation conform to loan product requirements and federal, state, local regulations, as well as NFCU and NCUA requirements. Provide oversight and coordination of mortgage loan workflow and productivity. Assist with leading section activities.

  • Review and evaluate mortgage loan applications to ensure viability (member' debt to income ratio and compensating factors) and compliance with Federal and Navy Federal guidelines, etc.
  • Review loan files for accuracy of estimated closing costs and initial loan pricing
  • Authorize release of the reviewed/approved loan packages and release of information to members
  • Provide assistance and direction on complex/unique or unusual loans
  • Review loan files, ensuring all supporting documents met conditional requirements according to investor and lender guidelines
  • Review loan files for accuracy of loan pricing, interest rate and points
  • Resolve escalated member issues and problems
  • Train team members and/or peers on functional processes and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with documentation and disclosure requirements
  • Detect errors and initiate or arrange for corrective action; ensure resolution
  • Identify and resolve issues with closing attorney/agent, realtor or other related party
  • Conduct ongoing training for team members; coach, evaluate, inform and provide corrective guidance
  • Work with Mortgage Trainers to receive and distribute current information regarding loan program changes, automated system changes, underwriting requirements and documentation requirements
  • Analyze changes in policies, procedures, and products; determine the impact on the functions of the section
  • Serve as team lead:
    • Assist with section operations and oversight of staff
    • Compile reports and/or production statistics
    • Provide input for performance appraisals
    • Mentor and guide team members
