Job Summary:
The Digital / Laser Print Operator is responsible for the efficient operation and quality of the print product from a Digital Press.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assume full responsibility of operating and maintaining a Digital Press.
  • Read and understand process flag, workflow, and any other job instructions before loading a job for printing.
  • Use a computer at an intermediate-to-advanced level for daily job operations.
  • Process all related work and instructions by using electronic methods.
  • Ensure quality product from the press before moving product to finishing location.
  • Properly identify work schedule at press.
  • Meet schedules and production goals.
  • Perform minor repairs and all major adjustments of assigned press.
  • Performing all Preventative Maintenance needs as outlined from the Press Manufacturer. 100% Preventative Maintenance compliance is required.
  • Understand the digital workflow from order entry to running the supplied file on the press; and understand downstream finishing options to deliver an appropriate project from press.
  • Train other personnel as instructed.
  • Keep entire press area safe and clean.
  • Communicate with following shift personnel and be committed to working together as an entire team to adopt consistent processes across all three shifts.
  • Work with supervisors or team leaders to continually improve the digital workflow process and quality of the product being produced on a digital press.
  • Cross-training additional staff is a requirement of this position.
  • Conservation of ink practices will be highly enforced as these are the most expensive consumables of these presses. Each operator will be expected to control any excessive use of these materials on a daily basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High school Diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months' related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • One year of printing experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, workplace, and safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic math skills, (add / subtract), and ability to use a measuring device.
  • Basic problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use a computer at an intermediate to advanced level for daily job operations.
  • Effective email and electronic communication skills.
  • Knowledge of color theory with the ability to use a Spectrophotometer and Densitometer at an advanced level.
  • Must have an open mind to constantly changing processes and participate in regular continuous improvement ideas.
  • Demonstrated positive attitude and successful experience working in a team environment.

Desired Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work with the following software packages or programs:
    • Microsoft Office, PrintStream
  • Ability to work with the following tools or machinery:
    • Pallet jack
    • Paper Turning Disc
    • Knives: razor, hand, slab-off skives
    • Pallet wrap holder
    • Hand tools
    • Grease guns/ air hose nozzles

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently, 20lbs constantly
  • Ability to constantly:
    • Move to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to another;
    • Communicate with others to exchange information;
    • Operate machine and/or power tools; and
    • Work in noisy environments
  • Ability to occasionally:
    • Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like;
    • Move self in different position to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces;
    • Remain in stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods;
    • Adjust or move objects up to 50 lbs. in all directions;
    • Repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers;
    • Assess the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned; and
    • Work in high temperatures, hazardous conditions, small and/or enclosed spaces
