What is a money broker?

Money brokers act as intermediaries between banks and other financial institutions, helping them borrow and lend money in the short-term money markets. They do not use their own funds, but instead facilitate transactions by matching parties who want to borrow or lend. Money brokers play a key role in ensuring liquidity in the financial system and often deal with instruments such as certificates of deposit, treasury bills, and interbank loans.

How does a money broker typically collaborate with financial institutions and clients on a daily basis?

A Money Broker acts as an intermediary between financial institutions, such as banks and investment firms, to facilitate large-scale transactions like loans, deposits, or foreign exchange deals. On a daily basis, Money Brokers communicate with clients to understand their needs, negotiate terms, and match counterparties for optimal deals. They also stay updated on market trends and ensure regulatory compliance. Effective collaboration and relationship-building with both clients and institutions are crucial for success in this fast-paced role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a money broker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Money Broker, you need a solid understanding of financial markets, strong numerical skills, and typically a degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Familiarity with trading platforms, financial analysis software, and relevant regulatory certifications (such as FCA authorization) is often required. Outstanding negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills help set successful money brokers apart. These abilities are essential for facilitating complex financial transactions, maintaining compliance, and building trust with clients and counterparties.

Job description

Work Location: In person (hybrid)

Come build something real at a fast-growing tech startup, where your work on day one actually moves the business. We're looking for someone with the disposition to sit at the center of a hard deal and drive it to close.

The Role

As our Broker, you'll negotiate two-party domain transactions from start to finish, working both sides of the deal to find terms that get buyer and seller to yes. This isn't lead gen and it isn't order-taking; it's real negotiation on real money. No prior domain brokerage experience needed; we're looking for someone sharp, resilient, and genuinely motivated by closing a hard deal.

What You'll Do
  • Broker domain transactions by negotiating directly with buyers and sellers
  • Own each deal from live negotiation through signed close
  • Structure terms that satisfy both sides without losing ground on Atom's position
  • Communicate professionally and persuasively over phone and email
  • Keep deals moving forward, identifying and resolving points of friction
  • Build a reputation as someone both buyers and sellers trust to get a fair deal done
What You Bring
  • 2-4 years in sales, negotiation, brokerage, or a similarly high-stakes role
  • Strong negotiation instincts and the confidence to advocate on both sides of a deal
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Real drive and grit: the ability to stay in a difficult negotiation until it closes
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, startup environment with real accountability
  • No domain brokerage background required; we're hiring for aptitude and disposition
Bonus

experience in real estate brokerage, M&A, or other deal-based negotiation work

Why You'll Like It Here
  • True sales experience, negotiating both sides of a real transaction
  • Direct mentorship from experienced operators in the domain and branding space
  • Exposure to high-value deals and real decision-making
About Atom
