Summary
The Mold Maintenance Technician is responsible for working safely while working within the Mold Maintenance Department. Technicians are responsible for maintaining, repairing, and changing molds used for casting aluminum wheels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follows safety rules 100% of the time.
  • Contributes to a safe work environment by following housekeeping guidelines.
  • Maintains good attendance.
  • Follows instructions and works to meet daily job assignments and KPI's.
  • Strictly follow the instructions during operations, as well as maintenance of the equipment
  • Assembling and disassembling molds before and after production runs in accordance with daily production plan
  • Inspecting molds for visual signs of wear (i.e., delamination, scratches, or pits) and repairing them according to standards of process
  • Removing leftover aluminum from molds using ultrasonic cleaner tank system, torch and/or manual tools
  • Replacing worn or damaged parts inside the mold (ejector pins, water lines or other components)
  • Operating sandblasting equipment to clean and prepare mold surfaces
  • Welding and blending to repair cracks or damages in molds
  • Painting molds with a protective coating to prepare them for heating
  • Operating a mold furnace to cure and harden repaired molds
  • Inserting, changing and moving molds to and from the casting deck and assisting with installation and verification processes
  • Ensuring all jobs are treated in priority order
  • Driving a forklift (as applicable)
  • Cleaning of working areas
  • Other Relevant work

Skills and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six months experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand written documents

Physical Work Conditions
  • Must be able to work in a hot environment.
