Mojo Vision is pioneering a highly flexible, wafers-in, wafers-out micro-LED platform to unlock AI applications in multiple market segments. Built over nine years by our skilled engineers, our system-level approach combines advanced 300mm silicon architecture with GaN-on Silicon emitters, proprietary quantum dots, photodetectors, micro-lens arrays, and packaging to solve conventional trade-offs in size, brightness, bandwidth density, and power. Our we are building breakthrough micro-display and next-generation optical interconnect products.

At Mojo, our team includes talented professionals with expertise in product design, user experience, applied physics, hardware, software, optics, photonics, electronics, chemistry, and vision science.

We are a startup founded by technology experts with decades of experience developing pioneering products and platforms backed by some of the world\'s leading technology investors in Cupertino, CA.

Roles and Responsibilities

Mojo Vision is seeking an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to help define and deliver next-generation optical interconnect solutions for strategic customers. This is a highly visible, cross-functional role that sits at the intersection of customer engagement, system architecture, and product strategy.

You will work directly with industry-leading customer and internal engineering teams to translate complex system requirements into innovative product solutions. Success in this role requires strong systems thinking, technical depth across multiple engineering disciplines, and the ability to clearly communicate complex concepts to audiences ranging from engineers to executives.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable discussing system architectures with customers, evaluating engineering tradeoffs across multiple domains, and developing Python-based tools and models that enable data-driven decisions.

  • Lead architecture reviews, requirements definition, technical workshops, trade studies, and design reviews.
  • Translate customer requirements into clear engineering specifications and actionable product recommendations.
  • Drive system-level analyses across optical, electrical, thermal, mechanical and reliability engineering.
  • Use Mojo Studio, simulation tools, characterization data, and first-principles engineering to evaluate customer-specific use cases and guide technical decisions.
  • Build Python, MATLAB, or similar engineering tools to automate analyses, accelerate trade studies, and improve team productivity.
  • Partner cross-functionally with optical, device, reliability, manufacturing, and software engineering teams.
  • Communicate technical insights clearly to customer engineering teams, internal stakeholders, and executive audiences.
Required Skills
  • MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, system architecture, or multidisciplinary product development.
  • Strong systems-thinking skills and ability to reason across multiple engineering domains.
  • Hands-on experience developing engineering models, simulations, or data-driven analyses.
  • Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or similar languages for analysis and automation is a must.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Experience leading technical discussions with customers, partners, or cross-functional engineering teams.
Preferred Skills
  • Optical interconnects, silicon photonics, high-speed electrical systems, signal integrity, thermal engineering, advanced semiconductor packaging, mechanical integration, reliability engineering, semiconductor product development, AI infrastructure, datacenter networking, or Model-Based Systems Engineering.
