Job Description

Allstate is looking for Cloud Provisioning Engineers within ATSV Infrastructure Services. Within IS, the cloud engineers are responsible and accountable for the engineering and operation of the Allstate cloud platforms. The cloud platforms are comprised of multiple public cloud environments, continuous integration and continuous delivery tools and pipelines that enforce our security and operational standards.
The Cloud Provisioning Engineer will design and build opinionated, secure cloud environments and platforms for Allstate. Job responsibilities will include automating public cloud services by building continuous integration and delivery pipelines that are used by infrastructure teams as well as application teams. They will partner with consumers of the cloud platforms to align their applications to our standards and to solicit feedback for the purpose of improving our platforms.

The Cloud Provisioning Engineer: 

  • Writes and maintains Python applications that automate the provisioning and management of cloud environments. 

  • Builds the various opinionated cloud environments and platforms while aligning them with business and security strategies and requirements 

  • Builds standards, designs, and automates the deployment of software in cloud environments 

  • Designs cloud patterns and reusable infrastructure modules for AWS and Azure. 

  • Troubleshoots complex cloud provisioning, security, and deployment issues. 

  • Partners with application teams to help them adopt cloud engineering best practices. 

  • Leads technical initiatives and mentors other engineers on cloud automation and Infrastructure as Code. 

  • Will be working primarily in an Extreme Programming environment and must be willing to work in a paired programming/engineering model 

  • Contributes to the strategy and designs for the continuous integration and continuous delivery frameworks and tools 

  • Defines and develops new products and services that provides functions- “as-a-service” and are user centric 

Technical Skills 

  • Expert-level Python development experience with the ability to design, build, test, and maintain production-grade cloud automation systems. 

  • Extensive experience building cloud infrastructure solutions in AWS and/or Azure. 

  • Deep understanding of Infrastructure as Code principles including hands-on experience with Terraform, OpenTofu, CloudFormation, or similar platforms. 

  • Experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines that provision, configure, and manage cloud infrastructure. 

  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity and access management, security controls, compute, storage, and platform architecture. 

  • Proven ability to diagnose and solve complex technical problems across application, infrastructure, and cloud domains. 

  • Experience developing reusable automation frameworks, APIs, libraries, and tooling such as boto3 and the Azure SDK 

  • Ability to lead technical discussions, mentor engineers, establish engineering standards, and drive adoption of cloud engineering best practices. 

Additional Skills Preferred: 

  • 4+ years of application development and infrastructure engineering experience 

  • Able to mentor different teams across the various engineering practices including extreme programming, product mindset, cloud/as-a-service approach, and infrastructure as code 

  • Hands-on style - willingness and competence in producing necessary changes in our infrastructure and processes 

  • Able to work in diverse teams, multi-task, and work under pressure to meet aggressive schedule targets 

  • Able to work effectively across organizational and geographical boundaries 

  • Identify creative solutions for technical challenges 

  • Able to communicate effectively across groups of diverse backgrounds 

  • Ability to communicate and present ideas and solutions

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is 98,100.00 - 167,850.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
