We're currently seeking a detail-oriented and self-driven Payroll/Human Resources Assistant to support our operations in Lake City, FL

About the Role: As a Payroll & HR Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate payroll processing while supporting key HR functions. This is a hands-on role requiring attention to detail, organization, and a strong sense of accountability and urgency.

Payroll Responsibilities
  • Process weekly payroll by compiling, calculating, and entering data accurately
  • Maintain payroll records, including deductions, benefits, and tax information
  • Track leave, non-taxable wages, and earnings records
  • Generate payroll reports and assist with audits as needed
  • Issue paychecks and resolve discrepancies

Human Resources Support
  • Maintain and update employee records (personal data, benefits, compensation)
  • Support recruiting and onboarding activities
  • Ensure new hire paperwork is complete and compliant
  • Track PTO and vacation accruals
  • Assist with benefits administration, including open enrollment
  • Manage workers' compensation records and reporting
  • Serve as a resource for employee HR-related questions

What We're Looking For
  • 2-3 years of payroll and/or HR experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (basic formulas and functions required)
  • Familiarity with payroll systems (UKG/UltiPro preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organization, multitasking, and communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and have an excellent work ethic
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
  • Experience working in a fast-paced or manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel - bilingual is a plus
  • Thrives on assisting and teaching employees
  • Willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done
  • Must have excellent attendance record
